If it is with a girl then it depends. It can help with condoms because they can be abrasive. Also, if it is anal then yes, see above.

My SO gets quite wet but is slow starting. The problem is that fingering or attempting insertion can be dry at first and irritating to her, which can deter arousal/getting wet. I use dollar store aloe vera lotion. It is thin, has a mild scent and stays wet. Using this primes her pump, so to speak and then getting wet takes over.
