I mom was a public nurse who had to track down people for stds in the 1950s. When a patient came into the clinic they'd list their partners and if those people wouldn't come in for treatment then my mom would have to make a home visit to try to convince people to come in for treatment. She told me that she visited some pretty strange places. So while she was a bit more conservative about relationships she was shy about discussing sexual matters.

She would be the first to say it was necessary especially to curb unwanted pregnancies and sexual activity in teenagers and to keep the sex drive down so one doesn't jump into sexual situations that isn't good for a person. There's that mix of conservative and open combination. Not denying we are sexual beings but still maintaining some self control.

I'm sure your parents know you do but they aren't going to talk about it at the dinner table.
