I mean, she's not nude, so it's really a gray area. The police should be there for more than giving fines, they should provide direction.
as stated the law doesn't work like that... flip it to something socially acceptable elswhere but not here in the uk. would you suggest our coppers let it go or would you advise peope do a quick google to see whats accepted and whats not. example romanian guy backing up the hard shouder on the motorway in the uk. he should get a fine even if they do do that in romania and when i drive in Europe i make sure i carry all the shit in the car we dont require by law here.
Depends how grave the offense is, showing 2% more skin really won't affect anyone, it's more of a decency kind of thing. Let het know it's too much and make her cover up. If someone is risking lives by doing something in traffic, that's a different story. Even there there's grey areas. You need to have two lights on while driving in the night, if you haven't noticed yours breaking, give him a gentle nudge and have it replaced, no need to fine the dude immediately.
see you are looking at it from a logicl uk angle and i appreciate that but if you have a tail light out in america you get a ticket straight off the bat so like i said it pays to research local laws
It's always good to research local laws, but let's be honest, it takes people 10 years of studying just to fully comprehend one country's laws.
i wouldn't suggest she needed to know the laws concerning tax returns or cat ownership but two minutes to google whats acceptable at the beach... no excuse as far as im concerned
I mean, what exactly does the law read? You need at the very least 10cm^2 of fabric around your areola? No way. It probably just reads something like: public indecency is prohibited, including and not limited to swimwear, lingerie, blablabla" legal terms legal terms and they still don't specify actual measurements.

This is important evidence to respect and follow local laws and customs when travelling in a foreign country.
I think that's normal to be fined for that because it doesn't seem to be very family friendly.
But it looks gross. So she has to understand.
