The Hooters name is a double entendre referring to both its owl logo, a bird known for its "hooting" calls, and an American slang term for women's breasts.

Hooters is a restaurant whose waiting staff are primarily young, attractive waitresses usually referred to simply as "Hooter Girls" whose revealing outfits and sex appeal is played up and is a primary component of the company's image.

My county in California is too puritan for such things - though we have all the drugs and gang activity one could ever want - but I go for lunch occasionally when I'm in a neighboring county that has one. I have customers 1 or 2 blocks away from two different Hooters locations, so if I have to work those customers, that's where I usually eat - mostly because the food is pretty good.

The thing is, it's JUST A RESTAURANT. Yes, the girls dress in the tight white top and orange shorts - but otherwise, it's no different from any other bar & grill that I've ever been in - some of which have had waitresses in MUCH more revealing dress. If you look, you'll realize that there's actually very little cleavage on display - the tops are tight, but not even very low-cut. And the locations that I visit usually have female customers, and sometimes kids, when I'm there, just like any other bar & grill.

People act like Hooters is a strip club, or a brothel. What it IS is a sports bar, with beer, good quality bar food, and attractive waitresses. That's it. There are no lap dances. No naked titties. No BJs in the back booths (there are no booths, in fact). Just food and drinks and lots of TVs showing sports.

I find the whole Hooters thing weird. I’ve only been once and it was when a bunch of American friends were in town and wanted to meet there.

the outfit is whatever? It’s less slutty then the standard look for waitresses in pubs here - most of our pub chains dress their waitresses like they’re prostitutes offering schoolgirl fetish, because uhm something kilt something something jolly old England something beer? So orange shorts don’t seem all that scandalous or exciting.

food was gross. Beer was strangely the same price for terrible and decent beer. Not sure why anyone went there.

He wouldn't go with his friends as most of them are married/with kids.
The non-married friends are the same ones we've been to strip clubs with so.. I wouldn't mind if he went with those ones. I'd love to be invited to come with, or even just go alone with just him and myself (though there are no Hooters in Canada as far as I know).

I wouldn’t care. We’ve gone before. I was curious and kept hearing how good the wings were. I think the food is better and the outfits are cuter at Twin Peaks. It’s a rustic themed restaurant with waitresses in skimpy outfits and also named a slang term for titties.

The wife and I took my stepson (her son) to Hooters for his 16th birthday. I let the girls know that it was his birthday. Well, while eating the wife asked him if he was enjoying the views. Embarrassed getting caught looking he replied back pointing at me "But he's looking too!" (but so was Mom) and I replied, "Son, I'm married. Not dead." Right after we finished eating, four of the Hooter Girls grabbed my stepson and placed him on a bar stool, then surrounded him with their arms on one another shoulders and sang 'Happy Birthday' to him while all were leaning in towards him. Man, did he turn red and was absolutely speechless especially when the entire restaurant was watching it all and applauded and whistled when they "released" him after each giving him a peck on the cheek! Said afterwards it was the best birthday present he's ever had! The girls deserved the tip I left them!

you can get beer and sports anywhere, and the food, i hear is not that great. the only reason men go there, is to see the babes in tight tops and short shorts
