So this is a bit of a personal one. I used to be pretty 50:50. I then became a sex worker for several years and had to be sub as that what my clients all wanted. I’m no longer in the job but I’ve found that I can’t switch back anymore and feel really out of my comfort zone when I have control and just don’t enjoy it. The problem is most of the guys I’m interested in just don’t like that... My clients though we’re all the opposite so I’m curious to hear what you think

There are dominatrixes but it’s actually quite niche. I was a sex worker for 5 year and never met one. The majority of clients want young submissive girls. Some will even ask you to dress up in school uniforms etc.
That's true. Plus I don't have the knowledge to talk. But my hunch is that dominant and submissive are two sides of the same coin. Sometimes I like to be dominant in bed. At other times, being submissive and bullied suits me fine. I'd love a woman who could whip me and boss over me. (That doesn't make me a sissy... a lot of things in sex are just illogical!)
Could it have had something to do with your age and that you were just out of your teens? The guy who visually gets attracted to a girl of that age might not want/expect a dominant woman, no?
It depends on the woman, but I think it can be a very intimate moment to be with someone that is submissive and to be able to feel powerful by dominating that other person. I personally wouldn't mind switching it up, but it would have to be someone I deeply trust.
I think you just might need some time and the right person to slowly get back into 50/50, if this is what you actually want. Start off by simple things and see what you like.
