Nuclear power is the answer. It could cause another industrial revolution given how cheap energy might become, but the regulators decided that it was 'unsafe' because one or two accidents happened in an age when methodology and technology were more hazard prone.

Coal and oil both cause a lot more deaths than nuclear power; but I guess because nuclear melt downs could affect the environment for longer, then the deaths of working class people doesn't really matter. Society always ignores the working class anyway.
