I really appreciate your honesty. It's interesting. I think I invited the right people to answer. But everyone's welcome.

What Girls & Guys Said
8 60Yes i got over the addiction just like i quit smoking 6 days ago..
Good for you, on both.
Do you think you have an easily addicted personality? Or do you think there's not really any such thing?
Thank You , well i can't do Satan's work and expect to get to Heaven cause it won't work..
I'm laughing. I don't know what to say to that ;)
Yes i believe i can be easily addicted to things cause i come from a family and on my late Moms side of the family there was drug addiction and alcohol addiction , so i believe it can happen with one.
I was to the point i was saving porn pictures from online and this one computer i had to have Windows restored cause of the pornographic pictures i had saved yes very embarrassing
Yes it does happen to the best of us
"i had to have Windows restored cause of the pornographic pictures i had saved" Do you mean you really wanted to restore it, so you could get the pictures off of it because you really liked them? Or because you didn't want them possibly getting out into the world? Or because they crapped out your computer/killed it?
The pictures was carrying a virus i was dumb and just got a computer it was the best thing i could do , trust me it's not worth saving porn pictures they carry viruses and malware , spyware.
Ooooh, right. Yeah, free ain't usually free, eh.
Yeah so glad i gave up them addictions not good at all it effects the physical health and the mental health
Yes, I also believe in addictive personalities. I was just trying to be polite and neutral asking that. But the science is pretty conclusive. Everyone needs a different level of stimulation in their brain. My mum is addictive, my father is not.
Yes i have a addictive personality. Now my Father use to smoke and drink but he stopped all that stuff , he is about age 78 . His Mom lived to age 88 and her Mother lived to be age 92 . My maternal Grandma lived to age 85 she shoveled coal into the coal furnace in her middle to late 70's , a really remarkable Woman. When she was age 80 and her Family doctor said she had a heart on her of a 40 year old woman. He never seen it in his lifetime of patients.
That's great. Yep, back in the days when humans used to move their bodies, not just sit in a chair all day. I like watching clip interviews with really old people, giving life advice.
Yeah i agree , i loved my Grandparents. I helped take care of my Maternal Grandma with Dementia and it was rough but she loved me and that disease never came between us it's a horrible disease but yes she lived a good life worked on the railroad and cleaned houses for people , she cleaned the local bar in Monongahela Pa really something and my Grand-dad was former Deputy Sheriff and he worked on railroad too that is how him and my grandma met.
Yes, hard workers back then who swallowed their pride. I had a grandather, died before I was old enough to know him, he was a mechanic and repaired motor bikes during and after the war. My oma taught nursery children, and cooked and cleaned, later housing university students. Admirable work.
Yeah i agree
My paternal grand-dad he worked as a coal miner and got arthritis in his knees and my late paternal grandma drove the milk truck delivering milk to maw and paw stores and to homes.
Porn with no plot is sòooooo boring to watch.
You'd rather have a plot which is manufactured, than homemade/amateur that is all real?
I started masturbating and having sexual feelings very early compared to most people - at around 7 years old. But it wasn't until I was 17 that I began watching porn, and that was largely due to the fact that I was unable to access it anytime earlier.
From 18-20 years old, I experienced my absolute peak in sex drive - and it was terrible. I don't know if you could say I that was addicted to porn, but I was definitely addicted to masturbation, and porn only made it easier and better for me to get off. Admittedly, the visual focus of porn greatly appealed to my visual-oriented arousal.
I must say though - and Male-to-Female transgenders will agree with this - that as a male you basically are a slave to your testosterone, and sexual urges control you more than you control them. Sexual pleasure is more about the 'release' and the 'relief' of which, than it is about the entertainment and enjoyment of which (to a degree).
These days however, my sex drive has dropped substantially - thank fuck - but I still masturbate out of leisure, if you will lol. I also have Erectile Dysfunction now, but overall I'm just happy to be able to focus on things other than sex, porn, or masturbation 😊
Thanks for sharing. "Sexual pleasure is more about the 'release' and the 'relief' of which, than it is about the entertainment and enjoyment of which (to a degree)." This is a good point. Do you think your fixation on it from earlier has caused or contributed to the current ED?
Yeah and although I'll never know for sure, I'm quite convinced that female orgasms are better than males orgasms, at least from the descriptions you read about them haha. Oh I definitely believe that my excessive and early onset to masturbation contributed, and perhaps is the primary cause of, my ED. I don't mind too much because I can still keep it up during masturbation as long as I continuously stroke it while looking at porn, and there are pills that I can take to assist if I do happen to engage in actual sex, so it's no biggie really.
Did a llittle research, the diff between male vs. female orgasms...
While women tend to have much longer orgasms of around 20 seconds or more, most men get just 3 to 10 seconds. But is longer better when you don't get to experience it as often?
Studies have shown that while the average man gets to experience his 3-10 seconds in 95 percent of sexual encounters, for women, this statistic drops to 69 percent of encounters.
So the question is, would you rather have a shorter orgasm if it means you're almost guaranteed to actually get it, or are some things worth the wait?
www.sciencealert.com/science-which-is-better-male-or-female-orgasms
Yeah I've actually read that same article in the past, but I was mainly talking about the intensity and pleasurability of female orgasms compared to males', and from what I've read it seems that although there is greater variation and a broader range of intensity and pleasure, the best female orgasms are superior to the best a male can achieve. You read stuff like women convulsing, shaking, and even blacking out due to the overwhelming strength of the orgasm, whereas you pretty much never hear of men experiencing the same. Women will roll their eyes back and writhe in ecstasy, their overall state resembling being possessed by a demon lol. So that's mainly what I was referring to and yep, it definitely does seem like women's orgasms are better (with the expense of getting to experience them less often like you said). HOWEVER, guys can experience what's called a 'p-spot orgasm', which is when the prostate is being stimulated instead of the penis, and the descriptions of THOSE orgasms pretty much match those of our female counterparts. So perhaps things aren't so unequal in a sense.
I'm not much for porn. It really bores me.
Yes I was, 14 months clean
Its a real struggle. Also its free, and "harmless" its a lot more pervasive and damaging than most people realize.
Porn should be much harder to access and cost $$$$
So in order to be "clean" do you have to abstain completely?
Well, for the first few months I had a girlfriend so i wasn't abstaining from sex. After the break up, I stopped masturbating. I had 3 relapses in the least 8 months where I masturbated. But I didn't do it to pornography.
I watch porn anywhere from one "session" every other day or two "sessions" every day. I feel like I need it when I don't have a partner, but when I do have a partner and we do things often enough, I don't need it.
2 sessions at different times, or back to back? Would you ideally want your potential partner to watch it with you, or would just as soon give up porn mostly, if you have a partner IRL?
Different times. If I had a partner with a high sex drive like mine, I could easily give it up. But if they wanted to watch porn together I would.
I was for a while, but now I barely watch it. It doesn't really do much for me anymore. I dont really crave it anymore, but when I DO , I usually binge watch it.
I used to HAVE to watch it every night, and I went through a phase where I would only watch Indian porn.
But anyways, I eventually got tired of seeing the same kind of videos. I was looking for something new, super specific things and I couldn't find them, so it doesn't really turn me on anymore, unless I'm really horny, or craving a specific genre that I know is out there.
These days, my imagination and sexting works best for me.
Yeah, I guess you are one of those people for whom it just got played out, as opposed to another type who has to keep upping the ante.
What about yourself?
Okay. Well, I guess it's only fair I give my opinion on it too (some guys are so touchy about the whole topic though - one has to be careful, lest they get their back up and attack or defend.) Basically, I don't like porn. I've seen an adequate amount to know and understand it, I think (I'm always very objective and come from a sort of psychological/sociological bent about analyzing these things). I just find them too inauthentic. To the point that most of it is an actual turn off for me. Sometimes me and a partner have put it on while in the act ourselves, I might do it if really they want to, but it actually turns me off, takes me out of the actual real life moment, so I end up turning it off most times. I have explored and found that if there is one genre I like, it's homemade/amateur. While I am a huge film enthusiast/movie buff (as I reference in many of my other posts), and I am usually a snob for production values (and I have a background working in photography so my taste level and demands for images is *very* high. So given that you'd think I would require better produced porn. I've seen it, some looks great, but then the relationship between the people, the 'talent' they choose, to me it's often really bad. And I don't think many of them make actual good lovers! I think their blow job techniques suck (ha ha, pun intended) because they don't know how to do it sensually and build it up. There's no progression. (I presume that's too slow for people, but that's what makes it a better blow job IRL.) And... the guys don't talk, the women are fakely loud, often the faces are ugly, and I don't believe the women.
cont'd... If my biological/chemical drive was so strong that I needed to see naked people... well I can't even imagine it, but I presume this is how a lot of guys feel. They think they need it. I've found one video that stands out to me, and I do really like it and have watched it several times. Why? It's homemade, the couple is great, natural yet very good looking - this is their second video - the first video was more typical, they did not know each other very well. But by the second video, they had obviously developed a closeness and understanding of what each other likes. He even whispers near the beginning, ever so softly in her ear, "I love you". It was not meant for the camera to pick up. You only hear it on max volume. Anyway, they have regular sex, nothing kinky, but the difference is he is *really* into it the whole time. He's smiling. His face reacts to everything. He is not numb. He moans in ecstasy. And she's happy too. I want to see that. I want to see two people treating each other like that, enjoying each other to the fullest. And you just can't get that between two strangers who know absolutely nothing about each other.
P. S. My husband used to work in the porn industry. Not as 'talent' (that would be a dealbreaker for me, personally), but behind the scenes, in tech, helping to run a very successful major porn online company. He built and managed the infrastructure for it. I know a lot about it. So, it hasn't come up yet (thank god, and I am very impressed with the quality and honesty of the repliers here... I think I have followed the right people on gag), but, if it did, I was *considering* eventually telling you all this, if it was necessary to prove that I do not ask these questions out of spite or judgement. But I guess I am telling you now for a different reason - because so many of you have been so open, and pm'ing me with your struggles. I really do genuinely feel for you, those of whom it has taken over your life. It has become a crux to bear, for some. And I know people just want to be with people. The companionship of another person of the opposite sex... it's one of the most powerful and rewarding things we are humans experience. Anyway, combining this, with some sociology/anthropology/psychology/psychiatry (my step-father was a psychiatrist and I worked for him for a time) background, and having had several great men/relationshionships in my life in the past (I adore men), and a husband of now 20 years (he is very supportive and knows I am asking these questions here, smart as a whip, and we can party together too), I am enjoying this platform as a way to explore this topic. I am thinking about many things happening, and society as a whole. Porn is one aspect of a sea change, I believe.
"cross to bear" I meant. "we as humans experience".
No, never.
im honest... i need porn like sunlight
Are you The Mad German as in crazy, or angry?
both :) my anger drives me mad
I've never been a slave to porn. Used selectively it's got more appeal. NOT into the new cam culture.
What don't you like about cam culture?
Just the idea of all those anonymous bell Ringers waking off. Not against those that choose to cam.
Yeah, I sort of can't reconcile the idea that you would just be one of many, nothing special (even if they always pretend that you're their fav), just in an assembly line, so to speak.
Porn is a part of my life.
So, it definitely depends on how you define it. I use porn for personal time almost daily, but i don't let it interfere with my life. I also don't use it if I'm in a sexually active relationship. Even if the person I'm with only wants sex a couple times a week, I tend to be content with that. I also talk to my girlfriends about it, so if she's fine with it, and wants less sexual contact, then I have used it. But i am also not the type to be oblivious to her and disregard her feelings, so it's a case by case thing.
So, no, not addicted in the clinical definition, I don't think I ever have been (I do remember having a large stash on my computer as younger guy, but that was because you had to download it all, on dialup, it wasn't easy). But, yeah, I do like it and use it.
Ring ring ring, weeeee ooooooh weeee ooooh. That must have taken some patience.
Lmao it did. I'd let it DL over a few days.
It cannot be an addiction. At worst it could be the subject of compulsive behaviour.
Fair enough. I looked up the definition, and "Compulsion: an irresistible urge to behave in a certain way, especially against one's conscious wishes". What do you think about that?
Actually, the American Society of Addiction Medicine's definition of addiction includes compulsive behaviors.
www.asam.org/resources/definition-of-addiction
Sure. Addiction includes a physical (ie neurochemistry) requirement/reliance. If either one is a problem for someone - the process of quitting has to be quite different.
@OlderAndWiser
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8892189
They appear to be somewhat out of date. The treatments for each are being revised based on whether they are addictions or compulsions
Yes, of course, but the difference is not important for this lady's question.
@OlderAndWiser I disagree. using colloquial definitions encourages the proliferation of claims that things like porn addiction, sex addiction, masturbation addiction, video game addiction etc etc are actual medical conditions. They are not. They are behaviours that some don't like, and others aren't bothered about. that realistically aren't a problem unless the person engaging in them is damaging their life to do it.
I do agree that using a term that casts it as a medical problem, rather than behavioral, is counterproductive.
Okay, be calm, walrus. Whether an addiction or a compulsion or an obsession, the root idea is that it's something that one cannot stop. They are unable to control themselves. I am NOT applying judgement to these words, in a societal sense. I am asking the q because I know of men who they, themselves, have said they have or had an addiction to it, and it bothered them. All the people who answer this q get to decide for themselves.
Thank you for your input @OlderAndWiser. You have a deft hand.
Came across badly if it seemed I was upset. Apologies.
Thanks. We’re all grown ups here. This is a civil debate.
Not that I know of.
I wouldn't call it an addiction, but do I like porn--Yes. Do I watch a lot of it--No, but some days I do.
I love porn. I think I am somewhat addicted. It doesn't interfere with my daily life yet.
My nigga he'll ya
@m15teen See? Here's two different guys, and for one it has not interfered with his daily life at all, while for other it has "ruined [his] life". Be careful.
I'm hugely addicted. I have thousands of oics/videos/gifs on my phone, and many thousands more on my pc. I'm a complete dirty whore of a man 😂 sex absolutely rules me
Can't tell if you feel happy or something else about that.
It hasn't troubled me yet. Sure, the innocence is long gone. But... What the hell was I gonna do with it anyways?
Lol. True.
To address your update. I masturbate twice a day usually. Waking up and going to sleep. And I'm married lol
@grizzlybearbite Why are you not doing it with your wife?
She's not as "sex-crazed" as I am. Once a week or once every two weeks is enough for her. And, she doesn't like anything "fancy".
That's reasonable.
@grizzlybearbite What do you consider "fancy"?
always have been, always will be
Well, at least your committed to your cause. Nice to have determination :)
No, I don't need porn to tickle my pickle.
Hi Mr. Owl. Nice to see you again.
Well, thank you!
No fajizzle for your nizzle (something like that)? Lol. What is the phrase. Some movie quote,,,
This : www.urbandictionary.com/define.php ?
Ah! Thanks Owl. So, definitely not appropriate for your pickle. Heh heh.
My imagination is much more powerful than any porn so all I really need is my hand. Hell, I can even do it with no hands :D
Geez you're talented. Every do any tantric breathing, edging, etc?
It's fairly easy to do it with no hands, you just need to grind on something. What are tantric breathing and edging?
Edging is the practice of a guy controlling himself, and when he cums, by bringing the level of stimulation up high, higher and higher, and then temporarily back down. (You change positions, breathing, thinking, to be in complete control.) If you vary the number, and don't climb in a consecutive sort of way... not boring old 7, 8, 9, 10, then supposedly the orgasms are *much* better. It's also used for fixing erectile dysfunction. Tantric breathing is a centuries old technique (s) of doing all of that stuff above, except focusing on breath control only. It also creates mind-blowing orgasms. Guys who are good at yoga are great lovers. They understand the spiritual/coming together aspect of sex, have incredible muscle tone, and have utter control over their breathing. They can last for hours if they (and the woman) wants to.
Hmm, interesting. I should give this a try. Masturbation gets old and repetitive after a while. Both of these things seem to require a lot of practice though.
I'll give you another technique too... Ultimate Nostril Breathing: Plugging one nostril with your finger increases blood flow to the opposite side of the brain. Stimulating the left hemisphere (by plugging the right nostril) activates the ‘rest and digest’ functions which calm the mind down and is described as ‘cooling and ‘calming’. Stimulating the right hemisphere (by plugging the left nostril) is described as ‘heat generating’ and energizing. Alternate nostril breathing is ‘harmonizing’. The results have been proven in brain scans. Postures can also increase blood flow to certain areas of the body. I have been experimenting with breathing, yoga, meditation. I must admit I'm not having that much success with it, but I do think the nostril breathing for calming does work somewhat. So maybe the inverse is also true. Try it out. As I say, it'll make you a better lover too.
Very interesting, I'll make sure to experiment sometime ;) Thanks for all these tips!
The nostril breathing sounds weird to me because I don't see how it can affect your brain : regardless of the nostril, the air still ends up in your lungs, then in your blood, then in your brain.
Do some research online about it. They done lots of testing on this, and can see the opposite side of the brain light up with activity.
I'll have to test it out because information around these topics is usually confused and a spaghetti mess of science and spirituality.
Totally agree with you. It IS a nest. And I'm not a very spiritual person at all. But I've had a lot of disappointment with Western medicine (I believe sometimes it, and all the pharmaceuticals, causes more problems than helps, sometimes), so I've been looking into less invasive, more heal-yourself, and Eastern options the last while. When I tell people that, I often get a "oh yeah, a mix of both is best". Do you get CNN? Do you like them ok/enough? I like their medical correspondant (he's a neuro surgeon), Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He had a short series recently, 'Chasing Life', all about travelling the globe in search of techniques used to stay healthy (not vanity, plastic surgery-type stuff, but internal, through natural means that anyone can do). The episode on India mentions yoga and this breathing technique. They hooked a yogi up to brain monitoring software to track, so it is proven.
Well, healthcare in the US is pretty crappy in my opinion, it's mostly shove medicine in the patient mouth hoping things get better. I am interested in these alternative methods too.
Yep. Pharmaceutical industry is like oil or diamonds, in so far as some of the corruption.
Yes, that why I would not like to live in North America. It's a business instead of being a genuine organization that wants to help.
Well, Canada is not like that. It's completely socialized medicine (a huge trigger phrase in the U. S.), but i have to admit, it feels like less money spent on you, but at least you won't go bankrupt over a health problem. Bonjour! I just realized I was talking to someone in France.
This conversation on porn has taken quite the turn, eh?
Indeed. In France, most healthcare is free or heavily taken care of. However, our government wants to take this away from us despite being a system that has worked for decades.
Well I do have sex in every 6-7 months period. In between the period, I watch porn at random times and masturbate. But I can say that I am not addicted to it since addiction can make you watch it irrespective of any situation...
