Have you ever been turned away at the door when trying to get into a club/bar?

My friend and I tried to get into this gay bar last night and we got turned away because we “look straight” lol
like am I supposed to be wearing rainbows head to toe and be covered in glitter or something?

I mean usually I do gay it up a little bit for the bar but I was lazy 🙄 they saw me looking like a bum and said “a gay would NEVER” lmaoooo.

but in all seriousness it’s kind of insane that they stereotype based off appearance. Someone who works at a LGBT spot of all people should know that you don’t have to “look gay” to be gay.. lol.

Or what if I was trans or something? What if I was non-binary? even if I was straight, maybe I’m meeting a gay friend here. There could be a number of reasons why I’m trying to get into a gay bar. Like you don’t know me. How are you gonna assume shit?

  • i got into the wastewater treatment plant as a kid on a field trip and i didn't even have to bring a glass from home to drink the treated sewage. they did have tomato plants growing from people's pooped seeds in the sludge discharge pipe's receiving box. once i saw a sign that said love is love and then it also said water is water and had a dude and a chick with drinking straws on either side of a toilet, one drinking from a glass and one from the toilet bowl. funny how organic produce has more feces on it but less toxins. retaining natural relational roles may well indeed retain more of the image of the Creator created into humankind's natural synergy. Yehoshua saves, and serves the Creator who is kind even to the unthankful and evil. Still, though, thanking Him in every circumstance good or bad is scientifically proven to best align neuroendocrine function in best arrangement to overcome life's stresses. Best wishes all, in YeHoVaH through His Son, Yehoshua who came to save lives rather than destroy them and to save rather than condemn!

  • No. I didn't go clubbing when I was younger, just to bars to see my musician buddies' bands, and even if I weren't 70, I don't have the personality to go clubbing.(I wonder what club owners and bouncers would think of a black dude who showed up at the door of their place in cowboy garb.)

  • Once on vacation. My friend and I had left a bar and we're walking about to our Airbnb. We heard some music an followed it to an open air night club. It wasn't super fancy and we were dressed pretty nice. I was wearing a pencil skirt and a sequin crop top. He was wearing a button up and a relatively nice pair of shorts. They denied us because of his shoes 😂 they weren't dressy enough. He was wearing boat shoes.

Wasn't a big deal. It wasn't like we had planned our night out around this place. And we were already winding down. But it was still silly to turned away for that. Wasn't like he had in gym shoes.

    • once on night court old tv show, a guy had a string neck tie and it took his judge friend speaking for him to get the waitress to say it fit dress code. in the Bible it said even the last remnants of communal believers before christianity turned away from Christ's requirement to give up personal possessions to live communally, were treating people worse for dressing less expensively, and the guy writing to them on God's behalf said God isn't like that. His Son did say woe to the rich they have their reward now, but looking after those needier God Is about, Himself. Yehoshua's words declaring YeHoVaH's will are the only true standard by the end of things, and He came to save lives not destroy, to save not condemn.

  • such assumptions are infuriating... we can look whatever we want... what is important is how do we feel...

no... I don't think it ever happened to me, but I visit only selected clubs and bouncers like redheads so I always get special treatments :D

  • No I haven't!

  • Yes, once at a club when I was 18. Naturally my pupils get very big at night, to the point where I look like I’m on drugs, and I’ve had bouncers at the door of clubs question me many times - seeing if I’m sober or if I’m drugged up. But there was one bouncer that no matter what I did or said, he was convinced that I was on some sort of drug, and wouldn’t let me go inside. Pissed me off because I was 100% sober, hadn’t even had a drink yet!

  • nope... I would even get invited sometimes... when I didn't want to come in, lol

  • Only once because I forgot my ID.

  • Maybe when I was under age.

  • Nope.

  • Sounds like profiling! That is illegal.

  • Nope never.

  • No, never.
