Here are some common misconceptions about the human body, did you know these can you list more?

  • Women do not pee out of their vagina.
  • The vagina is only the internal part, the outside part is called a vulva.
  • Male circumcision is not necessary.
  • The "heartbeat" at 6 weeks gestation is not a heart but rather tiny electrical signals. It does not make a sound, the sound is generated by Doppler machines. The heart is not developed until 16-18 weeks gestation.
  • You can not feel your partners penis in your stomach.
  • You can not get pregnant by swallowing semen.
  • Plan B is not an abortifacient.
  • Sugar does not make children hyperactive.
  • Gender isn't binary, nor is sex.
  • Legally blind does not mean that you see absolutely nothing pitch black.

Feel free to add onto the list, but be warned I will fact check and delete anything that isn't true 🙂

  • I don't have a horse in this race, but this woman thinks Plan B is a potential abortifacient drug: lozierinstitute.org The Lozier Institute is a very "pro-life, anti-abortion" institute to begin with, so their medical opinions are all based on the "life begins at conception" premise.

While sugar has now been shown to not be a direct cause of children's hyperactivity, it clearly does create spurts of various behaviors in a variety of both children and adults. In children, it can agitate ADHD that's already present. I found this to be a very good summary:

" Dr. Eugene Arnold from Ohio State University reported that more sugar leads to the production of more insulin, which depresses neutral amino acids in the blood, such as phenylalanine and tyrosine. Those particular amino acids are important because they are precursors to dopamine and norepinephrine, both of which play a large role in ADHD when their levels are too low. At the same time, however, tryptophan is slightly less affected by sugar intake, so when competing to cross the blood-brain barrier, more tryptophan can enter to spur serotonin release even when sugar-depressed neurotransmitters are unavailable. Thus, in this case the effect of sugar is likely mitigated."

So what I get from this is you're leaving it up to sufficient amounts of tryptophan to lessen (or mitigate) the effects of an over-production of insulin and a depressed level of neutral amino acids, the latter which is tied to ADHD.

I would conclude that too much of this practice is still not a good thing, but there's no need to demonize it like it once was. There's probably a very individual reaction within each child's body, and therefore, that child's behavior and reactions.

  • First, Plan B is NOT an abortifacient. If it is what I think it is, it only delays ovulation until all sperm have ceased being viable. It does not abort anything, as no egg has been fertilised.

Second, physical appearance is governed by DNA, half being inherited from each parent. Chromosomes are made from DNA. There are 22 chromosomes in a human. There is also a pair XX or XY that determine sex. There are many mutations of this pair, and additions to them that causes several sexual anomilies, such as XXX which is Triple-X syndrome. Basically, even intersex people have a predominance of male or female. I have a friend that is outwardly female, although infertile.

Incidentally, just got my DNA test results back. A real eye opener!

    • Unsure if you're agreeing or disagreeing?

    • You say you have listed some misconceptionsl. The first is women do not pee out of their vaginas. That is not a misconception. They do not pee out of their vaginas. So it is true.

    • Yes the misconception is that people believe otherwise. I'm correcting the misconception...

  • The vagina cleans itself. It does this through vaginal discharge.

Can't tell you how many times I've talked to guys that think women need to wash the inside of our vagina.

Also another vagina fact. It's elastic which means that it will stretch and go back to it's normal size. Which means that if a woman has a lot of sex it doesn't mean her vagina is loose. (This is sadly a popular belief still till this day.)

Women have gone back to their normal size even after passing a baby through.

  • Biological gender is binary. Non Biological gender is a social construct

    • There's no such thing as biological gender.

  • There’s apparently a common misconception that the hymen is a kind of “seal” on the vagina and as long as it is intact it means the individual has not lost their virginity? This is just false, they hymen VERY RARELY actually seals off the vagina, and the tissue can break due to anything from exercising to using a tampon.

    • Oh yes I forgot this one! The most logical reasoning behind the hymen is to prevent bacteria from entering the vagina as an infant. More useless nowadays due to more hygienic conditions.

    • People be out here uneducated as hell 😭

    • Can't say I was fully aware of all of these, most maybe, but still I thought the whole genital was called a vagina, caught me off guard with that one no lie

  • *A girl cannot get pregnant from anal intercourse. Some believe they can.
*A girl cannot get pregnant by swallowing semen.
*Precum is frequently infused with a small amount of live sperm. Pulling out is unacceptably risky.
*Girls' breasts do not get larger by "feeling them up" I believed they did as a teen.
*Quifing is not a "vagina fart". It is ambient air being pushed back out.

    I'm sure there's more.

  • A lot of women penetration alone isn’t enough to orgasm/squirt/cum.

  • First, please site some sources. Also, how is gender or sex non-binary? I don’t understand. Then trans people want to change over where do they go? From male two female or female to male.. they don’t go from male to wall. So I’m curious how it’s not binary when it’s literally the definition of binary.

    • Not binary just means it's on s scale. Male on one end female on the other, variations on sex chromosomes in the middle. Think about it. Does every man and every woman have the same amount of hormones in their bodies? No its incredibly varied right? That's why we have men with very hairy chests and backs and also have men who struggle to grow a beards. If sex was binary we would all look the same.

    • Lol LOGICALLY, lol binary means what? Involving two thing. Or base of two… you just explained that there is a variation of chromosome.. however you still have only what…? Two sex that come out, either way it’s either a male or female.. no matter how you look at it.. there are only two options from birth, with two types of genitalia to match.. y’all make it more complicated than it needs to be.. it literally that simple.

    • For sex, There are a multitude of rare chromosome variations that can occur thats aren’t xx or xy (genetic. org./ variations/). Gender refers to your identity of how masculine or feminine you feel, so it’s across a spectrum and isn’t one or the other.

  • Thanks. I like all these.

  • How the heck is sex not binary when there are only two sexes?

Intersex people are an unfortunate mutation, not a separate sex altogether or a spectrum of the sexes.

    • There is a lot of variations on the sex chromosome. It's more common than red heads. You just don't see it outwardly. A lot of things are mutations, doesn't mean people with them don't exist. There's also the fact of secondary sex characteristics and the amount of hormones our bodies produce. If we were all the same left or right then why do some men grow obscene amounts of body hair and some cannot grow a beard?

    • You can look at somebody's skeleton hundreds of years later and determine their biological sex though 🤔 It seems pretty binary to me because of that.

    • Not true actually. There's been a few instances where they have believed a skeleton to be male/female but after further testing has turned out opposite. But also who cares what people think when we are dead? Life is what matters. You don't care about peoples bones...

  • I use to always be so confused as to what blind people saw. But then someone explained it to me. It's like trying to see with your elbow.

    • Every blind person is different, you can be considered legally blind but still see, although incredibly blurry. Some can only see light and shadows, some do see complete darkness but I believe that is not as common

    • Oh, very interesting.

  • Penises are not necessary

  • "Plan B is a type of emergency contraception that works to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Here's how it works:

Plan B uses a high dose of levonorgestrel, a type of hormone commonly found in birth control pills.

When taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex and before ovulation occurs, Plan B works by preventing the release of an egg from the ovary or by delaying ovulation.

If ovulation has already occurred, Plan B may prevent the fertilization of the egg by the sperm.

Plan B does not work to terminate an existing pregnancy."

    • Not sure why you felt the need to comment this when it only reiterates what I said in my very short statement.

  • All (younger) girls shave everything down there

    Most guys have big dicks

    • These aren't really misconceptions.

    • they sort of are though. i feel everyone thinks guys have big dicks and that all girls (particularly younger/teen) shave down there. Both not true.

  • If u have two legs u have more than average

  • Who put a Doppler machine in pregnant women's uterus?

    • A Doppler machine works by sending sound waves into your body. The movement of blood cells causes a change in the pitch of the sound waves.

    • So you could hear a heartbeat with an ultrasound on my belly?

    • You could hear you own heart beat yes. The noise you hear in a Doppler before about 18 weeks isn't a heart beat as the heart isn't formed yet.

  • I don't think we have misconceptions about these.
