I found "I Spit On Your Grave" very difficult to watch. Somebody said in a comment on my other poll (vote here if you haven't) that they're sexually aroused by rape scenes. It was a pink account but looking at her profile, I am skeptical that she isn't either fake or a troll.
I'm also going to add in poll options about sadistic pleasure because a movie critic Roger Ebert said that when he was in the theatre of ISOYG, he heard some people cheering during the rape scenes.
How do you typically feel about rape scenes in movies/TV?

19 55For me it's completely unacceptable in real life and in situations in movies where it's obviously hurting and abusing the victim against their will. So no, I cannot stand these scenes and I feel sick watching them.
BUT, if it is a fantasy and does only exist between people who consent to it I don't feel as strongly towards it (aka rape play).
It's like bdsm. In real life situations you would normally never tolerate a person being abused and hurt but in bdsm some people like it.
But no, I don't get aroused if it is clearly portraid in the scene that the victim is in pure agony and in real danger and hates what is being done to them.
I Thought All 3 Movies Were Good, The Original Is Better... It’s Not The Graphic And Violent Rape Scenes That Make The Movie... I Felt From Start To Finish The Movies Were Done Well... It Was Her Revenge On Her Attackers And What She Did To Them That Made The Rape Scenes Worth Watching...
Meh. There is worse shit in media.
I wouldn't be surprised by actual pink accounts being turned on by rape scenes.
The rape fantasy is the most common female fantasy with over 60% of the female population having it.
Mind you they don't call it the "rape" fantasy because the word is taboo, so they call it "forced rape by a stranger"
Just look at these 5 star ratings by women on a book called "Crazy savage love" about a vile rape and she falls for her rapist (surprise surprise)
More men than women on this poll said they're aroused by rape scenes in media
Ok, and that should be ok if males have a visual rape fantasy... since women have the mental rape fantasy. It only makes sense since males are more visual.
It depends on if the fantasy is about being the victim or being the rapist. Fantasizing about being a rapist is suspicious because it could lead you to harm another person.
That mindset is like saying because a female fantasizes about rape she wants it in real life. Just because we fantasize about doing it doesn't mean we want to in real life. No more than you do when thinking about wanting it. People fantasize about doing a lot of things they never plan on doing. The rape perpetrator fantasy is only shamed because it's male and ALL male fantasy is attacked by women.
this movie has a rape scene? that makes it a chick flick right? since women love rape fantasies
More men than women voted that they're sexually aroused by rape scenes in media, so...
the comments say otherwise. most of the men have commented that they don't like rape scenes
So did most of the women
but you can't believe women
And you can believe men?
sure. women are not open about their sexual desires but men are
Those 3 assholes that voted E and G, everything okay at home? lol
Good ol' rape scene can turn you on sometimes :)
she's likely a troll... noone is "turned on by rape"
Pretty sure rapists are.
I was only turned on when the girl got revenge and cut off the guys junk. That was very sexy.
Lol. Same.
The fact that it is a sex scene and the female is nude is a turn on. The fact that it is being done against her will is a turn off but I am always aware that this is a movie and this really is not being done against her will. However, if the female is being injured in some other way, such as being cut with a knife or being punched in the face, then I will turn away and not watch.
In I Spit On Your Grave 2, the main character gets electrocuted with a cattle prod before being raped. The movies are brutal.
@lewisvenable I NEVER watch such movies. If I see something like that in a movie, I react as if I had seen it in real life and I have a very strong visceral reaction.
I don't watch shows if I know that kind of thing is in there. First off, I don't like seeing people being raped. Secondly, I know the "trap". Hollywood makes those scenes to "justify" the brutality that will later take place against the offenders. I think it's sick and wrong to cheer for people being dismembered in various ways because of what they did in a movie. That's why they call it torture porn. You can literally hear the people cheering for the violence. I swear the theatre seats were wetter after a midnight showing of that movie than they were after the first Fifty Shades of Grey. These types of movies desensitize people. Sure, you may be more sensitive to the rape, but there's no question you are being desensitized to the brutality that takes place after, toward the groups of mostly men. A lot of people fail to realize that last part.
