How popular do you think porn is and do you think it has taken over our lives?

One popular porn site did an accounting of how their business was going. They found that in 1 year, there were over 4 Billion, 329 Million and 586 Thousand hours of porn that was watched on their site. If you put that in years, that is over 500,000 years worth of porn being watched, and just on this 1 site. Can you imagine how much is being watched on all the other sites? Seems to me that is a lot of idle time being wasted that could be used on more useful endeavors.

  • I believe p*** is quite popular but I wouldn't say it's taken over our lives

500,000 years of watch time may sound big to you but if you think about it from this perspective right
Most people watch p*** almost every person in the United States watches p*** at least a little bit there's going to be p*** addicts out there yes but I'm sure the vast majority of people are not p*** addicts and when you combine all these people together it's very easy to see where 500,000 years of watch time can show up

Of course when I say almost every person I mean people who are at an age where watching p*** would be enticing which is right around the time you would start to sexually mature

Anyway point is a lot of people equals a lot of hours and a lot of hours equals a lot of p***

Also I'm pretty sure p*** addiction isn't caused by p*** itself

  • Well, they say men are more visual, so, it's likely that 4 billion hours of porn was watched mostly by men. If you shred that down to people in the world, since there are about 8 billion of us, that is only a half hour of porn per person on the planet. Some of those people are children, so we'll ratchet that up to 45 minutes per person, cutting out the kiddies.

Forty-five minutes per person is no time at all. But the facts indicate that some people are up to their asses in porn, watching hours daily. Others might watch a few hours per year. Those doing hours per day, are occupied in an unhealthy avocation on several levels: sexual, social, psychological.

Most regular folk spend their time with other regular folk, not glued to porn. It has only taken over the lives of those addicted to it. Let's hope they realize it and get back to reality.

    • Very well put 👍

  • porn across all formats only makes 4 billion a year, female sex toys make 14 year
If you take into account the endless free porn and the endless objects that females use to fuck themselves (like hairbrush handles, vegetables, table corners, toothbrushes, bottles, anything phallic or vibrating)...
... porn is not the problem.

females are not as visually stimulated so they’re wasting endless time jerking off and using objects to fuck themselves on more mental fantasies than just porn.

    • Yeah, your logic bombs on that idea.

    • Your inability to accept it does not make it untrue.

    • You sound like you assume everyone watches porn. That is simply not true. We all don't think about sex 24 hours a day as some of us have fulfilling lives without it.

  • I think it's more popular than ever, and the amount of different content is growing.
Some of he actors and actresses in porn now are really attractive compared to the past. Like there's porn actresses now that are pretty enough to be in regular film if they had gone that route. Porn is becoming very mainstream and accepted as a career.

    • Accepted by whom? If it was that accepted there would be no one going to Hollywood for a career. All those actresses and actors would not be busting their asses to make it in movies.

    • Accepted by society. So many people watch online porn now and basically grow up watching porn, that some of the Pornstars are even famous in their own right these days. It's just a different path than trying to go to Hollywood and fit into their ideals. For some of these extremely popular Porn actresses the adult industry seems like a better fit. They're very sexual people, and they don't necessarily want to conform to Hollywood. They're bad girls, and they wanna be bad girls. Lol.

    • You should ask the porn stars how they like porn. I hear a lot get burned out and quit.

  • Porn isn't a waste of time. I would sooner watch porn than spend hours overeating tons of food, which a lot of people do.

    • One is harmful to body health and one to mental health. What they have in common is that both are addicting.

    • I watch porn as does my g/f but neither of us have mental health issues.

  • some "studies" have shown that porn has become less popular on the internet.. and this is thanks to the stupid content online that went on the rise, and also social media networks... especially among the younger population

  • Yes I do think porn has taken over a lot of people's lives, I'm not going to say I don't watch it because I do, but very very infrequently, like maybe twice a month at most. I'm just not that big a fan of it, and I have better things to do with my time, like coming on here and winding people up lolSeriously though I think porn is actually one of the biggest problems for newer generations and causing problems getting into relationships, and with sexual dysfunction, that and unsocial media.

    • Well at least your an honest man.

  • It is taking over. So many are addicted and suffering because of porn.

  • I think it's extremely popular, it hasn't taken over my life. I don't watch it on a weekly basis, it's more like maybe once a month. How often do you watch

    • Not at all. I'd be more interested in the real thing.

    • Everybody is interested in the real thing but when you can't get it you do the best you can with what you got

  • Most people I know watch porn, but I don't think it's taken over our lives. Porn is just another form of entertainment.

  • It has been said that the internet would not exist if it was not for porn.

  • It's quite popular but I don't think it's taken over our lives.

  • Gee I don't feel THAT old. (500K/years). ;- )

  • There are people who are addicted to it. But I can't talk on behalf of others. But yeah, porn doesn't turn me on. It's fake after all!

  • Yes which is why a lot of men out there are doing NoFap and staying the hell away from porn.

  • Porn is extremely popular.

  • I guess if it was easy getting laid for every guy there wouldn’t be so much watching porn

  • Porn is a single man's ambrosia.

    • And as long as he has porn he may always be single too.

    • Giving up porn doesn't magically give me a girlfriend lol. Most women I have dated have actually watched it with me to give us ideas.

  • I think it’s 40% of all internet traffic now? Maybe higher? That would be a lot.

  • It is the most popular thing

    • To who?

  • Imagine all the internet traffic in the world, youtube, games, banking, news, all of that. Now imagine that 85% of the internet is porn. That's a lot of porn.

    • Yes it is. It's definitely Big Money.

  • I used to work in porn both on and off camera. I dont watch porn or masterbate. I think its for losers.

  • Yes it is a form of addiction. When we do something good it plays on those pheromones
