Conjoined twins Lupita and Carmen Andrade open up about the struggles of having a dating life when your sibling is always by your side.
The 22-year-old Andrare sisters were born in Mexico but grew up in Connecticut. They share a pelvis, a reproductive system, a liver, and a singular bloodstream. They also have control of one leg each: Carmen with the right and Lupita with the left.
The twins gave an interview with Today where Carmen explained how "It's not all rainbows and sunshine."
Growing up, the two underwent physiotherapy to learn how to sit up and use their legs to walk around, unable to take their first steps until they were four.
"We've had a lot of challenges, but we have a great life," she told the outlet. "We go to movies and concerts [sharing one seat], and we travel on planes."
They've never attempted surgery to separate them, as it can be fatal for one or both of them, sharing so much of their anatomy.
When they were asked about their dating life, Carmen said, "I never tried to hide the fact that I'm a conjoined twin, which meant I got a lot of messages from guys with fetishes."
Carmen has a boyfriend, Daniel, while Lupita is asexual but supports her sister's dating life. The couple met through the Hinge dating app in October 2020, and Carmen claimed that she opened up about being a conjoined twin as an icebreaker opening line.
The two hit it off and have even talked about getting engaged in the future.
"It's funny because I stay up later than Lupita, but when Daniel sleeps over, I fall asleep quickly – and he stays up talking to her," Carmen explained.
Looks like every sexcapade is a threesome.
