Let's make it clear. Using intimacy as a way to control you is meant as an abuse tactic. Either they use sex as a bargaining chip, or use some sexual activities that you dislike or find unsettling and painful as punishment.

Using sex as means of control or punishment is part or an abusive or toxic relationship, because healthy sex is ALWAYS consensual. If one of the parties involved feels uncomfortable, the other person should respect it and not force it.
