I'm Muslim but would like to experience bacon. Worth it?

I'm Pakistani but am in Australia for my studies. My room mates all eat this bacon and when they eat this they make a face like an orgasm and tell me I should try. I say no cause I'm muslim and Allah doesn't allow it and it is said if I eat it I will go to hell but I am doubting this. What god would deny people something so good? It is making me question my faith. Is it a temptation of the devil or should I go through with it and experience bacon. Thank you for helping in advance.

  • Okay. Lets have a quick history lesson with you. If anyone else had this already, sorry, I did not browse the 37 comments thus far.

    At the year of about 600 after Christ Muhammed was a very prominent leader and spiritual guide and there was a serious and fatal illness associated with eating pork. That is pigs.

    The animal was however quite cheap and food of course was not always easily acquired. Muhammed forbade/spoke against eating this animal because it was dirty, (meaning that in that region at that time) it carried a transmittable disease that was dangerous to humans. This was a great public service and a very good rule at the time that undoubtedly saved plenty of lives. Credit where it is due.

    In present time people forget why pigs were considered dirty and why they were not meant to be eaten and have made what was once a very correct and intelligent rule for public health into a religious nonsensical fixation. Whilst I do not want to insult any muslim I do wonder why this is not an abundantly clear fact in the muslim world when it is a documented historical fact.

    All in all: Other muslims may judge you because of it, but in my belief neither Allah nor Muhammed had any issues with pigs. The issue was people getting sick and spreading diseases.

  • Please don't make this a race war. But any religion that doesn't allow you be pleasured in many sorts of facets. This one bacon , then i would question. Are these man's rules or a loving God?

    Lets just say our Creator that loves you had seriously had rules and books written to control what your heart truly wants. when you know without a doubt it is not hurting anybody or creates guilty other than breaking that rule. What would be out of the question if it was written in today's time? Maybe the internet would be out of bounds? Or even talking to infidels or whatever label it is.

    Your creator is all of our creators, how would we be here any other way?

    Enjoy life and be good in nature to all and that is what we are here for , not to avoid life.

  • I don't think you should eat it if you're really committed to your religion. Chances are that if you enjoy it you'll want to endulge more which will only cause inner conflict. Try other forms such as turkey bacon. Honestly turkey bacon is really good and much healthier

    • Eww trust me the real think taste like horrible. It is nothing but fat, I say 85-95% greasy fat literally and the rest thin meat. My sister's dad is Muslim and my best friend as well and he had it and he doesn't favor it at all. Her on the other hand she doesn't care she just likes food. As far as religion goes we all sin and no sin is greater than the next a sin is a sin. Point blank period. If you're a good person don't worry about this we all get forgiven eventually. There are people doing worse thing's than eating bacon and that's every religion.

  • While you shouldn't eat it, it's not a temptation of the devil. All faiths have their forbidden items or activities. It's a sign of obedience and humility. As for your roommates, their lack of respect for your beliefs is far worse than any food.

  • I'm Jewish so can understand, I have eaten bacon before becoming Jewish and to be honest it's not really worth it, it's just dried up fatty nothingness really - if you've ever eaten unflavoured beef jerky - that goes someway to describing it. Stick to your faith and refrain from bacon - however, HaShem is forgiving, you just need to work out how forgiving.

    i saw someone suggest eating turkey bacon. with all due respect turkey bacon tastes nothing like bacon and not nearly as good. it's a cheap substitute... healthier yes but not even close when it comes to quality of taste
