Guys, is a bdsm relationship, does the dom having the sub wear a collar mean anything emotional?

does the dom having the sub wear a collar mean anything emotional or significant? or is it just for the purpose of possibly leading the sub by it or the dom thinks it looks hot? I've just noticed that in bdsm p*rn or pics a large number of them having the sub wearing a collar, curious if there's a meaning

  • It is demeaning as if saying the sub isn't even human, but rather a pet. It shows the difference in the level of power and authority.

    • There are no hard rules about subs and doms. It really depends on the level they want to take it to and personal preferences. One dom might just see the collar as a part of the role play in the bedroom, another might want to collar the sub themselves, while yet another dom may appreciate the sub knows their place well enough to collar themselves. There are some relationships where bdsm only enters into the bedroom, and other relationships where bdsm is about the entire relationship. bdsm includes a lot of different views and opinions. Anyone claiming to know what it is all about, is really talking about their very narrow view point of what they think bdsm should be about.

  • It's just one of many dominant/submissive symbol of a BDSM roleplay.

    • so its just add to their fun or role play? doesn't mean anything really?

    • who picks the collar, the dom or the sub?

  • When you walk a dog, do you wear the collar or does the dog? Who's walking who?

    • will a dom have any sexual partner of his/hers wear one? Or just one that he/she is in a committed relationship with? You only put a collar on a dog that you own, so if the dog gets lost the dog can be found and returned to you. Also the owner can pick the style of collar that usually represents their fashion sense or the dogs personality.
