There are no hard rules about subs and doms. It really depends on the level they want to take it to and personal preferences. One dom might just see the collar as a part of the role play in the bedroom, another might want to collar the sub themselves, while yet another dom may appreciate the sub knows their place well enough to collar themselves. There are some relationships where bdsm only enters into the bedroom, and other relationships where bdsm is about the entire relationship. bdsm includes a lot of different views and opinions. Anyone claiming to know what it is all about, is really talking about their very narrow view point of what they think bdsm should be about.

You only put a collar on a dog that you own, so if the dog gets lost the dog can be found and returned to you. Also the owner can pick the style of collar that usually represents their fashion sense or the dogs personality.
