Is sex the ultimate human experience?

Is sex the ultimate human experience and an experience every human being on this planet must experience before they die? If they die without having sex then has their life not been worthwhile or complete? Therefore, men espacially who struggle to get sex, older virgins or are unable to attract the opposite gender for sex have a good reason to pay for it to ensure they die happy?

  • Yeah definitely get laid before you die, if not you're missing out. As far as ultimate human experience? Dunno if I'd go that far, but maybe its part of it. At least, to love and to lust with all your heart!

  • Ask yourself this: if you could live forever, would you be happy doing nothing but having sex? I would wager that it would lose its pleasure within a couple weeks at most. Your appetite would increase as you continually try to find ways to surpass your last experience, since the pleasure is fleeting away from you so fast. That said, I do not believe that sex is the ultimate human experience. I believe that it can play a part within the context of love and marriage, but ultimately I believe that the ultimate experience is the pursuit of the higher things like righteousness, religion, and love.

    • the ultimate human experience is finding God and letting Him find yourself, Thomas Aquinas agrees with me too :P

    • @Raven1990 And St. Augustine of Hippo. You call that the Beautific Vision correct? In Eastern Orthodoxy we call it the Uncreated Light; Ss. Seraphim of Sarov and Gregory of Palamas describe it in depth.

    • yeah. actually i said that just to enphasize your last line. after all the highest thing of all higher things is God Himself. so there is no other good higher than God himself, that's why He is the ultimate human experience, as St. Thomas Aquinas have actually experienced that during his lifetime (when Jesus appeared to him once, praised his theological writings and asked what he wants more, then Thomas Aquinas only said:You, then he felt an ecstasis which made him realize how his theological wisdom is insignificant to what God really is!). In other words, i didn`t mean the Beatific Vision, where people who are in heaven can already appreaciate it for being face to face to God. I meant in our daily lives how that is possible at some extent.

  • Its one of the best experiences, but by no means the be all and end all.
Other natural feelings can comapre such as falling in love or being in a really good situation, off the top of my head... going on your fav holiday with people you love while eating amazing food.
Drugs can also induce euphoria for an experience as good as sex... but for obvious reasons this is inadvisable.

I think because we are hardwired to want to have sex it's not a case of ignorance is bliss, we are actually missing out on something if we dont. I dont knwo how this compares between the genders, since women dont have to orgasm to concieve a child, but men do in order to procreate, in my opinion the need to orgasm in ones life is significantly stronger in men, both alone and through sex...

  • Of course not

  • Uhhh nope! that is why food is there.

  • I'm a virgin so my opinion doesn't really matter, but I'm going to go with no. Otherwise I'll probably be disappointed if that was all life had to offer me :/

  • By a certain age, id pay for sex. You only live once, and you can be safe about it. Prostitution is legal in certain countries, plus the girls are regularly tested and condom use is mandatory.

  • OMG, NO! Sex can be good, but it can also suck! Masturbation has a small chance of being better than sex, and is almost NEVER as bad as sex CAN be at its worst.

Also, neither of these things even compare to some other human experiences, like finishing a major project (of yours), or accomplishing something great (be it some new kung fu skills, or being able to cultivate compassion for someone you don't like).

  • No. Tripping on psychedelics might be though.

  • Nope not even close.

  • No. Sex if it's lust is just an experience.
True pure deep love of the soul is the ultimate nirvana and doesn't require physical love but comes from within.

  • Nobody dies a virgin: life fucks everyone.

  • Sex is am experience we share with other animals. Thus it can hardly be considered the ultimate HUMAN experience. The ultimate human experience, as the name suggests, would need to be something distinctively human. Sex is great and all, but calling it the ultimate human experience reduces the ultimate in humanity to the level of non-human animals.

    • We're not all that different from other animals, except that we have bigger brains. The apes are pretty smart and show the same emotions we do. They show empathy and have a surprising sense of fairness.

    • @slatyb to say humans have distinctive qualities from non-human animals is not to deny that we are also animal. Of course we share a great deal with other animals!

  • One of them. There are others. Mountain climbing, for example.

Now, sex on the summit of a mountain...

  • No... it's overrated a lot of the time.

  • Yes, but not quite like holding your first child ❤❤
Jk haven't done that yet lol

  • I'd say that overcoming struggle/adversity is the ultimate human experience.

  • No the Drug is.

  • No sex is not the ultimate human experience. There are asexual people who do not care for sex and that's fine. There are monks and nuns and all kinds of people you do not have sex who are finding pleasure in other areas of there life. I don't think there is one ultimate human experience. Each person is different and each person prefers different things.

  • i don´t know man. i´d never pay for sex. and i´m pretty damn unlucky with the ladies xD
