Is there anything wrong with incest if both individuals are the same sex?

Well the moral harm would be as a result of existing within a broader social construct. So the moral harm would be a direct or indirect result of the fact that as a society, we consider incest immoral.

But there is no morality without society (unless you're religious). Morality is a social construct (which is why things from a different time were thought to be very moral are distinctly immoral now. For example, exterminating your religious rivals)

So if, say, in some far distant future where people have completely different values and have a very different shared agreed-upon morality... then I think that there wouldn't be any moral harm. If that society considered same-sex incestuous relationships to be every-bit as ok as an opposite-sex non-incestuous relationships. Then there would be no moral harm. It wouldn't be immoral because nobody would consider it so.

But you can't stand outside of the morality of the society in which you live. Otherwise, you're immoral. Therefore, yes same sex incestuous relationships are wrong. Because we (the ultra-super-majority) have decided it so.

That doesn't mean that's not subject to change. Gay people were immoral not so long ago (some idiots think so still). But, that's no longer the case.

It's all socially constructed, and therefore subject to change. That's morality as a whole. Not... just the incest thing.

Sometimes when people do certain things like murder or engage in sexual activity considered to be unnatural they actually get physically sick often vomiting. I believe this is one of the ways God is telling someone they are going in the wrong direction. I do not believe in persecuting people for their sexual desires or activity as long as its between consenting adults. I do believe we have to answer to the Most High for what we do and don't do. Maybe I seem like a hayseed to some people but I would rather be safe than sorry. What if your wrong and there is a God who wants us to live a certain way? How are you going to stand before Him?

We can use our talents and intellect to enlighten, instruct and guide our brothers and sisters. We can also use our gifts to harm our brothers/sisters by justifying or rationalizing sinfull or immoral behavior. We are not helping them when we do this we are leading them astray and exacerbating a serious problem! Words are important and should be weighed carefully because others can listen to them and be directed off a cliff!

I don't worry about being wrong about God not existing; anymore than you worry that YOU might be wrong about God's existance. You are 100% confident you're right. I am 100% confident I am right. I do not fear God, anymore than you fear that God may not exist. You're not afraid you might be wrong. I am not afraid I might be wrong. And never will either of us convince the other. I am going to tell you something I heard once. If you watch a tree on a windy day you can see the leaves moving around because of the wind. You can't see the wind but you know its there! Look at the vastness and magnificinse of this universe. Do you really believe it just happened randomly? Everything is governed by laws from gravity to E=MC squared to the orbit of the planets. But the reason different people believe different things, is because nobody can make any convincing case for their version of religion, or lack-thereof. If what you were saying were as compelling as you think it is, then everyone would believe what you believe. But you don't have a monopoli on good-sense. The prohibition against incest is not just based on the possibility of genetcally defective offspring. Read about incest and you'll see the other reasons, which apply even to same sex incest.

I'm reminded of a story I read a few years ago about a couple who were (I think) already married and planning on having children. They go do a genetic test to make sure they're not passing along anything, and they find out they're siblings who had both been given up at birth and adopted by separate families. I believe they ended up deciding to stay married and adopt kids because they obviously shouldn't.

So, I'm curious what people think of that? They had no idea they were related. There was nothing inherently telling them it was wrong. So is it just the knowledge of being related that suddenly makes it wrong? If you meet someone you're attracted to sexually, it's totally fine? But then by some longshot, you find out they're a sibling you never knew you had, the sexual attraction vanished because now it's wrong? I'd take a stab that roughly 99% of people say it's wrong but why specifically is it wrong? The answers will surely vary. Many will simply declare it's wrong because they're related and generally don't have any further explanation of why that's wrong other than 'you just don't do that', it's just something most people are conditioned to consider wrong. The issues with offspring that comes from the genetic similarities is the answer for many people. So in this same sex scenario, does everyone who has that as their main objection automatically change their mind since it can't be applied?

If it's not harming anyone then sure you can do it but then again, that's not changing how we view them.
