Birth control offers NO PROTECTION from STIs unless it's a condom. And condom's alone aren't the best birth control. Better to use condoms WITH a spermicide. There are many forms: foam spermicide, melting "bullets", melting sheets (about 2 by 2 inches). Condoms with spermicide are about 95% effective. Alone, about 70-80 percent. But condoms are the BEST protection against STIs. Still you must put them ON correctly AND take them OFF correctly. There are instructions WITH the condoms. You can't reuse a condom. You can't stay inside a partner until the condom is leaking sperm because you've shrunken. You can't SPILL THE CONTENTS of the condom on the leg or vaginal lips of the partner. SPERM SWIM!!! And vaginal juices facilitate said swimming.

Birth control pills or the under the skin inserts that last 5 to 10 years work amazingly well. Most have a.001 failure rate when used properly. The issue with low-dose birth control pills is IF YOU FORGET TO TAKE THE PILL WITHIN AN HOUR OF YOUR NORMAL PILL TAKING TIME, you are at risk for pregnancy. You need backup birth control. If you don't know someone well enough to have this kind of discussion, DON'T HAVE SEX WITH THEM!! Men have control over impregnating a woman BEFORE the fact.
