It matters, but it's not something that needs to fit an ideal, since we know that women (and men for that matter) come in all difference shapes and sizes (usually around an average when it comes to appearance).

Of course, there are some outliers, but unless a girl has some seriously beat up, baggy looking stuff it's not gonna matter what exactly you look like.

Considering vaginas are an internal organ they are not readily seen without spreading the labia and the only the vaginal entrance is seen. So I would the vagina appearance is not that important the appearance of the vulva is much more important.
