I think we should do it how Sweden did it (I believe it was there). They made prostitution legal to practice, but only for the prostitute. However, it was illegal to pay for sex, and if you were a pump then the prison time was steep.
And they took all the money they had been using to track prostitutes and they set up rehabilitation centers for them.

Legalizing something means its normal. Having prostitution isn't legal anywhere on earth except the abnormal countries in Europe who regret now.
What is normal is not determined by what is legal. How do you define an abnormal country? How do you know they regret it?
My family moved due to my cousin almost being trafficked into prostitutes. Just cause is legal doesn't mean girls look forward to becoming one. No womens wants to show her ass on a window. Pimps still exist as managers n club owners.

As so often there is probably no simple answer. There are many compound aspects.
Some that occur to me:
1.) Any man that pays for sex is inevitably a misogynist, who probably resents all women (for not giving him sex free). That resentment builds as disrespect for the women he does interact with.
2.) Many women are threatend by the existence of prostitutes. Even if they know their man doesn't use them they fear that he might, and fear begets hatred.
3.) Antiquated social attitudes colour people's opinions. E. g. slut shaming is a popular activity, and what is a prostitute but a slut who charges? (Their opinion, not mine.)
4.) Many are unwilling to acknowledge the flaws in our society that permit the exploitation of vulnerable young girls, so blame the girls rather than their exploiters.
I'm sure there are others, but the bottom line is where there is a market there will be those exploiting it (e. g. drugs). The real criminals are those supporting the market by paying for sex. Stop them and there will be no profit from exploiting girls.
I respectfully disagree on #1 I've paid for sex before, and I don't hate or think less of them. In many ways, I envy women in general. For me, it was simply a way to get a specific type of sex that I would have to meet and date dozens of women before I found one compatible, and how many dinners and nights out would that take? It was financially sound to find a specialist and just pay :) I've befriended many strippers over the years, as I find them to be sexually liberated and open minded on a level I feel more comfortable on, as most women already believe men talk/care too much about sex, so to find someone on my own level who is as sexual as I am, they are the only ones enlightened enough to really bond with- on that level.

I'm positive you have - you just didn't know it. Not all prostitutes are dressed like streetwalkers - though I bet I could take you to some streetwalkers in any big city you could name within 15 minutes, because they aren't hard to find. Anyway, there are multiple levels of prostitutes, and many are working online and dress "normally" so as not to attract attention from the wrong people, but are meeting men in hotels and motels in every city in the country.
