The age of consent should be set to the age of adulthood. Though I think the age of adulthood should be 16.

In my state it’s 17. Doesn’t mean I would chase a 17 yr old. The other day I got in convo with a 18 yr old on a dating app and I felt paranoid about it (nothing came out of it).
But in most states have “close in age” laws. So a 14yr old can consent to a 16yr old. A 15yr old can consent all the way up to a 21yr old. But there are also laws about the older person being in a position of trust. A 21 yr HS old sports coach would get in big trouble sleeping with a HS sophomore (as he or she should).
But as for “lowering the age” that should be done on a case by case basis. I do know a 18 yr old senior HS girl got in trouble for getting into a lesbian relationship with a 14yr old HS freshman. But then again they are still both in HS. She should she get in legal trouble? No not really. The DA dropped the case. But she should get in moral trouble. The parents of the 14yr old should of interceded and shut that down. Same with the school.
I want to keep it at 18.
however I believe there is an argument to be made because of Californians dropping the states voting age to 16, therefore maybe? But if so, the right to keep and bear arms should also be given to 16 year olds.
