I think you have your politics a little off here. It's the conservative that has such great difficulty with the human body being seen, not the liberals. In reality, where going topless is legal in some states, not much of anybody notices. That's because compared to the whole population, very few people go topless. It's in the south, the conservatives states, where being topless is such a scourge on humanity. Of course, in the south, it hardly happens at all. But it's a handy thing for conservatives to rail about.

If that is the situation, that liberals have the problem with the human body, then why is it then, that the states that first allowed women to be topless, were from the liberal north? Recently, conservatives in Colorado lost in court, and now, women can be topless in six Western states. Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. This would not have been the case, except conservatives mad a big deal about a few women being topless, and took it to court. Now, instead of a few women being topless in one area, they can be topless in six states. Conservatives can be their own worst enemies. And in the state of Florida, conservatives have fought for years, to end two nude beaches, where traditionally, people have swam nude for generations. There is an uneasy truce right now, where a small portion of beach is allowed to be nude. Conservatives want to wipe out nudity even in these two relatively remote beaches, where you have to go looking to find anybody nude.

I don't like government involved in behavior to long as nobody's rights are violated.
But women have to understand that the incidence sexual reaction to them will increase and you can't rely on the chivalry of men not to react to it. Men are strongly visually-oriented and a pair of breasts out in the open air and going to trigger an instinctive reaction. So do so at your peril.

I think women should be allowed to be topless everywhere where men are too. E. g. beach, pool-side, playing beach volleyball, whatever. It's just boobs, not genitals. I don't get though the link with liberal and being offended by it.

Come once to Europe, here in summer you see quite a lot of topless people, especially on the beach. Nobody here cares or is shocked by it.

I'm in favor of women's equality. I support liberty in general, including women's right to go topless.
It seems to me that opposition to that is more in line with conservative (traditional), and religious values. But I'll grant that some "liberals" (I use that term loosely) seem to disdain the of rights of those with whom they disagree.

Actually, it is liberals who participate the most in this. Also, there is the World Naked Bike Ride each year, with a theme of Bare As You Dare. Locally our last few have had about 10,000 people in them, officially counted. It took hours after the first bikers left the start before the tail end got going.
