Honestly I think for guys, being above average is a disadvantage. Because then you become too intimidating and most girls will avoid dating you in fear of completion or because the automatically decide that you're an asshole with a huge ego.
I'm not saying I look anything like these photos but I've been turned down by girls who explicitly told me how good looking they thought I am only to see them dating guys who are way less attractive.
It's frustrating to always be judged by the social standard instead of being seen as an individual.
This is just your perception. You've simply been around some low self esteem girls and shallow ones who measure everything by looks and compare themselves. You just need to look for girls who don't focus on that stuff and have other priorities, and if they find you good looking and desirable by others they are confident enough not to let it bother them. Being judged based simply on how you look always sucks, but if you were ugly you would have all kinds of judgements too, so might as well enjoy being on your side.
Yeah you're absolutely right. Well it's not like I'm complaining about being called good looking it does make me happy to hear it. It's just frustrating sometimes when all I get is a compliment and end up being shut down immediately if I try to take it further.

I have a thing for men with unusual faces. I go for character over stereotypical good looks. Something about a typical good looking guy is just a huge turn off for me. I like guys like Steve Buscemi or Klaus Kinski. I feel like their faces are so beautiful, nobody else looks like them, they are completely one of a kind. I also feel with a guy like that, you know they will be looking at you rather than themselves when you go on a date lmao
I'll go with average good looking. In my experience dating a guy that's "too hot" is problematic. He generally gets a lot of attention from women and can become arrogant and cocky. I also don't want to feel like i have to compete with tons of women to get his attention.

I've been in this situation several times and it's hard. The guy usually acts as though i owe him something like I'm the one getting a special prize by dating him. Like its my job to make sure he is satisfied all the time or he may dump me for one of his many other options

My dream guy would be in healthy shape he doesn't have to he jacked or insanely muscular. He'd be intelligent I'd like a guy as smart or even smarter than me because I love to learn new things. He'd be really passionate about different things so I could listen to him talk for hours on end and learn something new. He'd own who he is and be the little spoon from time to time (because who doesn't love that?) We'd be able to interesting conversations and recommend books to read. He'd love me for me and wouldn't want to change anything and vice versa.
