Were you ever a leash kid?

Were you ever a leash kid?

It is crazy to think, at one point, a bunch of adults attached leashes to their children in order to keep them near, and what's worse, they disguised them as cute bears or butterflies backpacks, but be not mistaken, they were leashes for kids.

Were you ever a leash kid?

If you were on a leash, do you look back at it like, mom/dad were probably right, I did need a leash, or you're like, wtf?

  • Wait... what?🙄🙄🙄 No, it is such an inhumane way to teach your child how to behave🤨🤨!

  • I have always been unleashed.

This was a wise decision: it would have been awkward for my parents or grandparents to be seen being dragged behind me.

Were you ever a leash kid?
  • never
    I rather pick em up

  • No but one time my parents took me an my twin brother to the beach. We were 4 or 5 years old. My father said that as soon as we got there I would run in one direction and my brother would run in the opposite direction. My father was going crazy chasing the two of us. He got a piece of rope and tied the two of us together so we had enough rope to move around but could not go far.

  • Well if my children are anything like I was they’ll be extremely chill and laid back.

  • Absolutely, I was and I paraphrase a few people 'a right little bastard growing up'

  • Honestly speaking my brother could probably use one, sometimes I feel conflicted when implying we’re even related due to how disrespectful it is to myself. I won’t go on a harangue but believe me, if you lived with him you’d wish you were one of those 5 year olds working in the coal mines during the Industrial Revolution.

  • Almost

  • Never.

  • That was pretty normal in the late 90's/early 2000's. Kids were borderline uncontrollable back then.

    It was a different time.

    • It's becoming more common now too

  • Yes I did put my kids on a leash when they were little

  • I was not a leash kid but I did get lost a lot. Now that I have a child, I’m not opposed to a leash until they’re older. I feel like it’s a safe way to encourage independence.

  • No but I put my kid on a leash sometimes lmao

  • There were no leash kids when I was coming up in the late 50's and 60's.

  • Yes but they used chains instead

  • No, but I've seen plenty of them, has it fallen out of fashion?

  • My parents bought one for me cuz I’d be running off 😭

  • Yes I was. I was on leash when my parents took me outside the state.

  • Yes and hit with a newspaper.

  • No I wasn't
