What are the private clubs for?

I am talking with this man who is a member of that private club that seems very fancy. Have no idea what’s that for but seems like too fancy for my taste.

Why do people join private clubs? What are they for?

  • They can be for a number of reasons, one of the key one is restricted membership to those that meet the requirements of the club.

They are a place to go and relax among those who are in a similar place in life,

They can range from simple snooker clubs with tables and a bar but have a specific membership requirement, such as dress standards, ability etc. then you have more specific clubs where you can go to chat relax, have a few beers after work.

in the UK, you can have politically orientated ones, such as Conservative clubs but in reality anyone can join you just need to agree to their requirements, then you have working men’s clubs, again with membership and sometimes refered to as Labour Clubs and are usually part of the CIU https://www.ciu.org.uk/History.html#:~:text=The%20Working%20Men's%20Club%20and,and%20various%20other%20clubs%20involved.

Within the military, you also have Officers Clubs and WO and SNCO messes (which are effectively private clubs).

We also have the RAF Club in London https://www.rafclub.org.uk/members

You also have elite clubs where those with money, VIP type status go to, as they do not get hassled by the general public as they would in a normal club or venue.

There are also clubs that cater for the likes of those involved in the BDSM scene, again these are restricted to members and are there so people can get involved in events etc without any hassle.

    • You have been around. My compliments.

    • @Dargil it’s a UK thing with Clubs, it’s a part of life really.

    • When I traveled to England/Scotland/Wales and stayed in rural Beds and Breakfast, it was interesting that the women and tourist husbands cleared the parlours at about 9pm and upscale men smoked cigars and opened portable bars. I stayed and did a John Wayne thing in dress and mannerisms. It was fun.

Most Helpful Guy

  • I've been in a few of these clubs , they are very helpful for networking and floating ideas , I've also had similar in a very exclusive golf club that I was once a member of , in general terms you know you can walk in on your own , you know that for the most part people will be of a certain calibre , a certain standing in the community , and without stating the obvious free from the general " riff raff " that hang around public venues.

If you invite someone as a guest that is not aware of how to conduct themselves well its your fault , because they are your guest , you will occasionally get this with some idiot member , and then their membership would be revoked , many rules are unwritten but its all about association.

  • If you are referring to the "Capital club" which I know of, it's not that private anymore since it has clubs around the globe and everyone within its niche seems to know someone who knows someone to get you in. However, you need to be a successful businesses owner and/or entrepreneur to get an invite and once you are in, you have exclusive access to a private ecosystem for similar minded individuals.

  • that's... private

  • Research it. It gives an air if exclusivity.

  • To keep out the "riff raff," usually a euphemism for people of colour.

  • Networking

  • They exist because of the need to exclude others

    • Why though?

    • Just for sex.. I think so

  • I feel like they’re for private lap dances and possibly blow jobs.

  • for sex and fun.

  • Do you want me to write here. lol! You know that, don't you?

    • I don’t really know… Honestly…
