Hardly, Its a antiquated term used by 17th century fishermen to describe preparing clams for sale (harvesting clam meat from the shells). For what ever the reason the term has made a resurgence in use in the past year. Though it has been adapted for use in a wider range of situations it's still mostly used within the context of consuming molluscs.
