What if the prostitute gets pregnant?

Hypothetical situation: A man travels to a legal brothel and pays for intercourse with a legal prostitute. The birth control being used fails and the prostitute gets pregnant. She decides to keep the child.

Question: should the customer (father) be responsible for child support in this scenario? It was a completely above board, legal transaction that should have been completely "no strings attached" (and was advertised as such) so should he be financially responsible for the tools of her trade not working properly? Or should he be responsible financially since they were two consenting adults, having sex, knowing that even with protection in place there is always the possibility of conceiving a child?

I enjoyed reading the responses. For those suggesting there is no way to narrow in on the father, genetics have come way too far for that to be an actual argument. Relative DNA searches are a common way of determining the sperm donner. If think the question becomes the legality of the donner become liable. I'd think that the decisions of the prostitute and John become irrelevant and the question become liability to the child.

    Because passing on your genes is a benefit to the man and as society / the tax payer is paying for the child in one way or another (or more accurately a million ways) he had damn sure better be paying for it.

In all states she can drop the child off at the police station or the fire house, and face no legal consequences for it. If the man has sole custody of the child and she fails to do her part and pay child support, she literally never faces consequences.. But if a man fails to pay, its jail time, its the loss of his license, its the loss of his home, the loss of his job, the loss of his ability to go fishing for fucks sake.. Thank god when i was in my early 20's i got a vasectomy.. I have had several women try to trap me with pregnancy... but when i mention "vasectomy" i get told im sexist and evil.
