What is there to really enjoy in your 20s before having kids?

I hear people mention it all the time. I also hear people who had kids too early say that they regret not having enjoyed their 20s. So like what is there to really enjoy about the 20s age range? I was never a partier. I was never into the sex and one night stands. I wasnr crazy about playing sports professionally. I’m not big on traveling the world (just my country). I was a successful nerd in school and enjoyed being teachers pet. I also had a way with the boys and enjoyed flirting around. But aside from work/school/home life and just being happy to be alive, i never saw what was so enjoyable in the 20s to the point that having kids before the age of 30 would set me back? Is it just a financial thing for most? I mean, if you saved up for what you really want in life (parenthood included), then i dont see how its a problem. But hey thats just my opinion and experience with it

  • I was in my early 20's when my daughter was born, but at the same time I can't recall anything that I wished I could of done, that I couldn't cause I had a child. Anything I really wanted to do, I could do as a family or with her.

    • Exactly i wish people understood that

  • 20s were ok. Early to mid 30s were ok too. But to be perfectly honest late 30s to now, I'm having the mfing time of my life. I'm so much happier as a whole, and it's only going to get better

    • Good luck

  • I think uo to 22 - 24ish there's still fun kid stuff like anime, toys, games, sports whatever. After 26... ehh Not too much.

That's the big problem with being alive, in my opinion. Reproduction is pretty much the point of it.

    • Exactly its the point

  • I travelled a lot and I had friends that I hung out with. I had a lot of good experiences and I did some interesting things. Once I got married and started having kids most of this stopped.

    • Well i already stopped most of that lmao so im good

  • Im glad we had our kids early as now we have both time and money.

    • Yea if only people understood this

  • Nothing really aside from being a hoe or just being reckless and irresponsible.

    • Exactly and thats not my cup of tea

  • I personally don't want kids cause I don't think I can handle it.

    • I understand your point... :)

    • there is a lot... don't worry about anything

  • I see all these people talking about getting drunk and sh*t...
Maybe I'm just naive and innocent, but I always thought it was referring to rock-climbing and white-water rafting and mountain biking and stuff like that.

    • I can do those outdoor activities with the kids. I can't get drunk with them 😂 at least i shouldn't. But im not into alcohol anyways

    • @DizzyDesii It's actually not advisable to take small children into extreme environments like that.

    • Movies should stop false advertising then because thats about all they do on the camping trips in shows and movies. Plus where i live, most kids start doing those things with parents at age 6 and continue on through college

  • Finding yourself really. Letting all the thrill rides out, or enjoying the money you can spend on stupid stuff. Also finding the proper jobs or industries you want to get into.

    • But thats kinda what the college years is for. By mid-late twenties, you’d think most would know

    • You'd think. Doesn't always go that way.

  • There's so much. Youth, energy, trying new things, being able to travel, freedom, lots of things.

    • People have many years to do those things before kids come.

  • A lot of people in their 20's party a lot. Hanging out in clubs and bars. I didn't do that stuff but I didn't miss out on anything. I had my daughter when I was 23. I wouldn't change anything in my life except for my career. I should have gotten into electric sooner than I did.

    • I love this

    • Thank you. Like you, I don't think I missed out on anything.

    • What did you do before that?

  • Anything you want because you’re able to put yourself first. The moment you have a kid, that is no longer an option.

You have to wake up early, make them brekkie. Make sure they have clean clothes. Etc etc etc

    • True

  • Probably going away on trips together

    • Sounds romantic

    • It is when it’s just the two of you and no responsibilitys

  • Partying and traveling with your man. Once you have kids you can forget about both.

    • I dont care to party and I've almost traveled everywhere i care to go. I would prefer a guy who sees no value in partying and has also traveled some of everywhere with no intentions of constantly needing to repeat. Taking care of kids/siblings has never stopped me from sharing time with whomever i was dating

    • In the general sense for most people in their youth they desire to enjoy it parting with friends and traveling to enjoy life.

    • Agh i understand
