if i had to guess why women women post provocative pictures on social media, i think its type of mating display, i think they trying to convince men that they're desirable mating choice , i think they do it to compete with other women and i think they do it for attention for a positive self-esteem boost.
They crave attention and compliments. They make them feel better.

I called a girl out on this one time on Facebook cause she posted tons of pics of herself all the time and I got tired of it. They just like the attention. I have probably 150 girls on my Facebook friends list that i dont even know but still approved my friend request. There were 3 or 4 guys that responded sucking up to her and telling me how rude I was. Lol

These photos are nothing. There are sites that men and women post sexual photos and or sexual videos of themself either by themself or with at least one other person. You also have the porn industry online. With both it gies from the most basic to extremely weird, dangerous, disgusting.

Well, some guys post pictures of themselves showing off abs or biceps. I'd guess it's for similar, if not identical, reasons.
People are encouraged to be "confident". The people that do this might think that's a way to gain confidence. Maybe it is, ask them.
