Why are boobs so taboo?

Throughout history boobs have been considered taboo, they’re honestly nothing different aside from mens boobies. Sure they produce breast milk when pregnant but there’s no difference, I don’t believe any man or official should have control over women’s bodies.

  • Anything sacred is protected with vigor you don’t see in other areas…

Aside from this mens “pecs” and womens “tits” arnt the same thing. Just as men don’t cover their penis for the same reason women cover their vaginas… men are attracted by womens allure and bodies women on the other hand value men for what they bring rather then what they look like. It’s only common sense we’d handle the two differently…

As a man go topless. Ima enjoy the view and you can enjoy the freedom I really don’t care… so when I’m also enjoying the view of your 13 yr old daughter who’s maturing real nice it’s not an issue right? Perhaps she has a really nice curvy ass I can stare at as she walks by? Perhaps you don’t mind her seeing my schlong swinging around in all its freedom and glory just feet from her?

Just kidding I got a baby carrot but you understand right? We cover up because how others respond. Some cover themselves out of embarrassment, some out of respect for others, some cause it’s expected but regardless… did you know in California and other states in the USA it’s legal yo go topless and braless as a woman? How many women do you think actually do it? It’s not that women wanted to run around topless it’s that they don’t wanna be told they can’t… we’ll I wanna run around with all my freedom. If your not ready to accept that then you need to just shut up.

  • Not sure where this taboo would be? Every beach here is practically topless, some cities have fully nude tanning lawns, the saunas are mixed and nude… the influence of the pietists ended some sixty years ago.

    • Which city is the English Garden in? Munich? I went there once.

    • @goaded Correct!

  • I have always wondered that too as they aren't sex organs. In Europe, no one pays any attention to topless girls on beaches as it is so common there.

  • Religion and men. Why else?

    • Though I should add I am totally okay with female nudity been a thing, like go ahead go topless by all means don't bother me just wanted to point out however the realistic part of it becomes a woman wouldn't want to most of the time if not all the time. Because you don't want some pervert and creeps staring etc. Would have to be very confident.

  • Makes no sense to me, the guy can walk around anywhere shirtless. I don't understand why a woman can't do the same. I do because some guys can't control themselves. They see a naked breast and go bat shit crazy

  • Because females are sexualised, males are not.

Sheesh, deary, you just get the internet on your farm, or something?

  • Those are very nice and you did a good job as a thirst trap... what was the question?

  • As a nudist I believe us Americans are prudes when it comes to nudity. I see nothing wrong with nudity and feel the double standards between women and mens breasts and nipples is wrong!

  • The big deal is just that they are sexy. They look nice, the feel nice, they always fast nice… and every culture has seen them as a sensual part of the body no matter how exposed they were. Like the nerves in and around the nipple connect to the same part of the brain that the nerves in a pussy do. They are just sexy. And as much as I agree that no man should ever tell a woman how she should treat her body there is still and always will (hopefully) be laws for decency that dictate when a man or woman shouldn’t expose themselves.

  • They aren't to me.

  • Western culture has oversexualised tits. They've always been a symbol of nurturing and caring until the mid 20th century. In developing countries they still are - at least in traditional cultures.

America's obsession with sex has poisoned the appreciation of the female form, destroying the idea of a traditional role being equal in value but different in men and women and grooming society to hypersexual behaviour at increasingly young ages.

That being said, my ex and my wife both have beautiful DD cups and I love playing with them!

  • They are, I thought boobs were very much loved by most people

  • When the British tell you to go away to distant shores for being too uptight, what do you expect? Any place with a history of strict religious beliefs is going to take a while before "the human body is natural and nothing to be shamed at" becomes the standard.

  • Breasts are considered sexual organs, so in a way I do understand why there's rules in place as to why you can't just walk out in public fully exposed, plus I dunno why you'd want to draw that much attention to yourself when there's gross people in the world who would be more than happy to take advantage of a moment like that.

    • At least let me know why the 1 person disagreed, just gonna disagree and move on apparently. Whatever I guess.

  • Because we live in a patriarchy and women are constantly shamed, objectified and sexualised

  • As far as I know, the only time I've seen people frown upon boobs is when a woman breastfeed in public.

  • I would not call it a ''taboo''
There IS a difference: boobs make guys excited, horny and interested.
You girls know that well; that's why most of ''you'' are constantly pondering about bra-sizes, shapes, nipples etc.
Only the less gifted ones have an interest to belittle their sexual function.

Instead of 'taboo' - I'd rather call it ''sensitive matter to deal with''.
We of course can run around naked like the other animals or some ''native'' jungle tribes do.
But to add a little civilization, to enjoy some decorative or protective clothing - makes the human difference :)

It's not about ''bossing'' women around; it's about keeping social interaction on a responsible level.

    • In places where nudity is the norm, most people aren't so easily excited by them because it's a common sight.

    • @DevinAM I would imagine that one is ''prepared'' to see what he sees in a nudist area. And: to go there already involves a specific mindset. Try the same on a supermarket parking lot :)

  • Why do we have different standards for exposure of women's and men's boobs when the only visual difference is the size? Both women's and men's breasts vary in size with women's generally being larger.

  • Same thing with men that crossdress. Its just clothes, but many people make a big stink about it

  • It's one of life's biggest mysteries.
