Why are some people so worried about men being rapists?

There are just 700k rapes in the US every year, but over 150 million men. Why do some men still worry and consider men as rapists?

Well its kinda a valid fear. It may at times be overfocus on. Like u shouldn't live in fear but u should also be careful u know and not put urself in bad situations with men u don't know and trust. Cause even though it doesn't happen a lot unfortunately it does happen and it can happen to anyone. I think of it like this. People have a fear of sharks. Sharks are real and dangerous but in reality more people die by falling coco nuts every year so the level of fear is irrational not the fear itself. So I won't stop swimming in the ocean but im not going swimming with a open cut either

That is 1 in 200 each year which might justify a belief that most men are potential rapists. Especially, if 700K women per year are abducted and forcibly overpowered and doesn't include the various type of acquaintance rapes such as 13 to 20-year-old boyfriends having sex with 14 to 17-year-old underage girlfriends or sex after a girl consumed too much alcohol.

If the various type of acquaintance rapes are included in the 700k per year, then movies and mainstream media is greatly the reason for the beliefs.

Cause of how the media and lot of women in general view us, of course we don't wanna come off as creepy or mean. But sometimes it happens, when that does happen and it turns out to be false it can mess up a lot of thing inside a guy head. Being falsely accuse sucks ass. So its not just being worried of being a rapist, its more of being worried we may have to go to court for what a lady may think as a attempted sexual assault

I think you are getting that number from the b
Bureau of Justice statistics for 2018 (734,630 to be exact but this also includes sexual assualts that are not rape). https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv19.pdf

You make that sound like a low number but even that was abnormally high compared to the other years in the late 2010s. The next highest was the year after and that dropped to 459,310. The lowest on this document referenced in this comment is 2016 which was only 298,410.

Keep in mind that the BJS's definition of rape includes male victims and includes threats of rape so those numbers seem to be inflated especially if we are talking about female victims.
