Why are women far more judgmental when it gets to looks?

From my experience the divide is racial not gender. Both white males and females tend to be the most judgmental about looks even to the point of openly insulting you in your face.
In contrast both black men and black women tend to be quite cool in general. Non-white hispanics are also somewhat pleasant.

Segue: This is probably why whites invite so many non-white immigrants into their countries. White people just can't stand each other and they want someone else around. In fact there's a new trend where white women chemically castrate their sons to turn them into girls cause white women are so disgusted by the look of male sex organs they'll do anything to cut them off including the sex organs of their own sons.

Women tend to be more discreet in everything and are very detailed. Guys can be simple as long as someone is pretty they would label them as pretty. But ask a girl if they think someone is cute they start calculating many things they would consider before calling someone cute.

I can't ignore the fact that *most* men prefer women who aren't overweight. Does this count? Because if so, a lot of men and boys can be harshly judgmental about women's bodies, which is part of the package as far as looks go.

So when you have one side judgmental about one way or looking, and the other side judgmental about another way of looking - both men and women can be just as bad. Luckily there are good people out there who don't allow these things to rule their love life, but I have met both men and women who are fiercely single because they refuse to settle for anything less than drop dead gorgeous - which is a bit weird when they themselves are often not.

That's false.
If it was true, then why are gay/bi men and straight/bi women much more likely to suffer from eating disorders and body image problems than straight men and lesbians? It's because they're trying to attract men, and men care more about physical appearance than women do.
As an example I have a gay friend with an eating disorder who said he probably wouldn't have an eating disorder if he was straight because women are more open to different body types than men are.

I really dont know. I think its them growing up on that side of the dating double standard. So many options for them that they get super picky.

I don't know I feel pretty open to most looks but it seems most women hold out for the guys that are over 6 foot🤷‍♂️

They are told from a very young age that looks are basically going to be their bread and butter forever. Naturally, they would want to believe themselves above average in that game and judging other women harshly allows such belief.

I think it's about equal. It mostly depends on the relative numbers of men and women. In places where there is a shortage of eligible women, the women can be more demanding, and vice versa.

It is evolutionary. Women select good looking partners because good looking offspring have a better chance of reproducing. Men are more opportunistic, taking any chance to reproduce they encounter.

Internalized oppression. Women are the most targeted when it comes to looks, due to societal oppressions and institutional oppressions. For example, the media mostly portrays women as objects and overly sexualized, extremely filtered, etc. And then there are many barriers in the workforce, police agencies, and education fields because of the way a woman looks. So since these ideals and barriers are forced on everyone including women, men participate but women often participate even more because of their own internalized oppression. Like if a woman always struggles with her body issues for all these reasons and tries really hard to look "normal" or "beautiful" then she'll be jealous, hurt, or annoyed that another woman doesn't have to do this (even if she does) and will be judgmental towards her.
