Why do guys think they have a say on abortion?

Our bodies, our choices. Thats that.

For those saying abortion is murder, we live in a society where we aren't charged with murder if we get one. Thinking it is murder is your views and not a fact or law. Also thats not what this is even about. Never debated abortion itself, rather than that of men having a say. The main reason I asked this is because of laws that were made in 2019 on abortion, all the lawmakers where white men.

  • Here's the problems with allowing men to have more say when it comes to unborn babies.
First, pregnancy does not require anything of any man after conception. But it requires everything of the women, more towards the end then the beginning, of course. The guy however is only as burdened as he allowed himself to be.
If a women for whatever reason decides that she's going to terminate a pregnancy she may consider the sperm donors thoughts, but that's all that can be expected. Because the guy isn't the one who is burdened for 9 months.
If you give men more say in these matter, at some point it will end up before the supreme court. If the court decides that a man can object to an abortion, thereby forcing a women to carry his child to term, you're not seeing what will eventually fallow.
At some point after the first women is forced to carry a baby, that she doesn't agree she should deliver, another guy will argue the exact opposite. That he should be able to say he doesn't want a women pregnant with his child to have the baby. And he will try to force the women to terminate the pregnancy.
And no one should be able to force anyone to such a commitment, that they themself can never be committed to in the same way.
It is your body, it is your choice. If you consider the father's thought on there matter, cool. If you don't, I don't blame you. You're good either way with me.

    • Child support is nothing?

    • Child support is not "nothing", it's the economic bare minimum (at least in my state) that it costs to raise a child. I do understand that it's always awarded to the custodial parent, and that is predominately the mother. I also know that in my state, finding yourself behind on just one payment, is grounds for the custodial parent to file a complaint with the clearing house (state agency that handles child support payments). And that one payment is grounds enough to have a warrant issued, and be arrested on. In my state your missed payment incurs a fee daily, every day your late. It's only 1%, but it is compounding interest, so it spirals quickly. I know all too well what child support is, I know what it's supposed to be, and I know what it typically ends up becoming. None of them is what "... is in the best interest of the child...". But that's not what we're talking about here, this is how much say should a guy have regarding a girl they got pregnant, terminating the pregnancy.

    • Women are free to have a baby, keep the baby kill the baby, abandon the baby, or give the baby away, and men have NO say in the matter and are forced by law to pay child support if a woman decides to keep a baby. Where exactly is the fairness in that?

  • If you don't want to have a baby, the time to decide that is BEFORE you get pregnant.

Man or woman. It's not rocket science.

BUT, since you're asking the question in such an aggressive way I'll answer in kind:

If the woman doesn't want the abortion but the man does, then as the law stands she can screw him financially for child maintenance for the next 21 years. And there's fuck all he can do about it.

If the man wants the baby but the woman doesn't, the law allows her to kill the child before it's born. And again there's fuck all he can do about it.

So as the law stands the baby has no right to life and the father has no right to say he will raise it and the mother can sign away her parental rights & responsibility after the birth.

The only circumstances abortion should be allowed are:

The mother would be killed by carrying the baby to term
The baby will not survive due to congenital deformities
The pregnancy is the product of rape/statutory rape/abuse
The pregnancy is the product of incest

Abortion should NEVER be used for convenience's sake.

    • Agreed.

    • The worst thing is voicing my opinion under my alias on here would result in a barrage of highly offensive DM and even death threats. I don't have time for that shit.

    • Actually, I agree except for "The pregnancy is the product of rape/statutory rape/abuse and The pregnancy is the product of incest. Please explain to me how committing a second crime (abortion) erases the first crime (s)?

  • They get to have an opinion just like everyone else. But they don't get to force whoever they are with to keep the pregnancy. What are they gonna do, lock her in a room for nine months? Of course the father's view should be heard and considered, but this is something growing and basically living off of her for the next nine months. She gets the final say wether something lives inside of her. Same way if men carried a pregnancy they would get the final say. Now if a guy doesn't agree to fatherhood and she stops taking birth control or whatever just to trap him I say demanding child support is unfair in my opinion. That's just me. She used him. And he shouldn't get to use her as an incubator either. Some people don't understand the simple concept of body autonomy. If anyone tried to force me through keeping it or termination against my will, that's it's an immediate restraining order. Or some other means of getting away from that person and taking care of my health. My advice, don't fuck someone you don't want children with or who doesn't want them with you.

    • And by that last part I mean don't fuck someone you don't want children with if you aren't willing to take the risk of this type of issue arising.

  • People act like being in labor is easy. It’s not and if a women doesn’t want to go through that pain she has all the right not to do it.

    • If she doent want to go through the pain then she should have kept her legs closed. If you want to play and not pay then at least be stand up about it... Be responsible get fixed first !! (Tubes tied/ histerectomy)

    • @Smurphanie so a woman can’t have sex till she’s past her 30’s even 40’s what are you smoking? Lmao

    • Nobody said she couldn't have sex all I said is the woman shouldn't be selfish and if she doesn't want to bring a baby into this world then before she spreads her legs she should be responsible enough to take the precautions needed to make sure that getting pregnant can't and won't happen.

  • I believe that guys should have a say if it's their kid. I firmly believe that a guy has every right to a discussion and be avle to voice their opinion.

But ultimately, it is our decision.

    • it is your body. don't tie a nigga to your life that you don't want

  • Nobody should have a say, for the zygote is an independent living being with a unique DNA. A woman can have a say on their body, but the zygote is not their body, it's just inside.
Oh, and by the way, a woman is not being obligated to have the child, she is being prohibited from killing it.

    • You're saying now that white men made the law... Well, what if that happened? Aren't they fathers too? Haven't they achieve the place that allow them to make those laws? It's seems you'd be fine with bad laws as long as diverse women made them, which is irrational.

  • Agreed but are you open to keeping the baby if he can and will step up?

    • If I don't want it inside me for nine months no.

    • Lol 🤪

    • @Alpha09 Than you should have a dick inside you for nine minutes.

  • I agree with you 100%, but if she keeps it, I’m not paying for anything and forego any legal rights to the child.

  • Spoken like a true liberal selfish *©€* !!

    • Spoken like a sweeping generalization enthusiast ! :-D

    • No just a realist who lives in the real world and a mother of 3 kids whose first child is the product of a rape. Personally I believe abortion is MURDER and the women who have them should be charged with such... besides if you can't deal with the consequences of your actions then perhaps you should not act !! In other words don't play if you can't pay !! AMD the men most definitely SHOULD have a say it is their baby too! So Fucking what if its your body you didn't think like that when you let him put his dick in you !!

    • Besides based on your way of thinking then the blacks should still be slaves !! So like I said before spoken like a true selfish liberal cunt!!!

  • I have mixed opinion about this.
For me, I need to know the reason/cause of the pregnancy. If its consentual, which means both male and female having sex without any protection knowingly, then the man need to be informed if the activity (ies) they did together producing something.

Then, if the male wants to step up and be there through the process (we are not talking about the after labor), the female might need to consider about it.

But if during the pregnancy, there is something happen with the baby or its development that might be endanger both of them and abortion is the only way to save the mother, then I agree that its the mother's decision.
    ===

Another case: if the baby is something came out of a rape. It is the mother's decision because she doesn't want to do the activity (ies) that produce the baby.
Then the "my body, my opinion" rule is acceptable.

Shortly, if you don't want to have to carry a baby in your body for 9 months then don't do unprotective sex, have pills, etc. Its as simple as that.

  • Equality's a bitch, isn't it?

    • we dont have equality at all lol

    • No, we mostly do, though there are certainly some holdouts. This is one of them. Loss of bodily autonomy is one area where women enjoy, and have enjoyed for some time, a distinct advantage. Removing access to abortion would be a big step forward in bringing us on to the same level. Or you could start acting like a responsible adult and acknowledge that freedoms belong to other people matter as well. Your call.

  • Agree ;)

  • Disagree, pregnancy isn't just about "your body" it's about the "life" inside that body, and you didn't create that yourself so why should you have the only say about terminating that life or not? Funny tho, the moms who think they have a right to say if their teenage daughter should abort or keep the child based off Their belief, cuz they usually forget that "Their body, their choice" then

    • This question always comes down to a person's "belief" of when life begins. For me, I ask a different question that no one really knows the answer to, so they go back the "does life begin at fertilization" question. Good point about the moms and daughters.

    • @loveslongnails it's an unborn life, but still a life the minute the heart starts beating to me... But thanks... And there would be less to debate if more people would stop being so careless, casual about unprotected sex 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • If he put the baby in me, he has a say so. It doesn't mean you have to do what he says but the least you can do is hear him out and respect what he says. Its no different from if you were underage and your mom/dad were trying to control what you do with your body. Just hear him out and then decide whats best for you.

  • I HAVE A FEW MIXED OPINIONS ON THIS TOPIC FOR ONE IF THE WOMAN IS RAPPED THEN IT SHOULD BE HER DECISION TO GET RID OF IT AND NOT CARRY IT AND HAVE THE REMINDER OF HIM AND WHAT HAPPENED TO HER.
AND IF YOU REALLY JUST DONT WANT ONE KEEP YOUR LEGS CLOSED.

    • AMEN I AGREE WITH YOU COMPLETELY but... I believe that if the woman was raped and wants an abortion she should only be allowed to get one if she can prove that she reported the crime and had a rape kit done.. otherwose its just another chicken shit way for the women who would rather lie about how it happened and dont want to pay for their irresponsible choice of not keeping their legs closed.

  • UNLESS he's prepared to provide ongoing child support and joint custody... his 'right' to an opinion ENDED when he refused to 'wrap his rascal' BEFORE pumping his DNA; in fact, ... for THAT decision ALONE, he should be liable for the financial expense of an abortion.

A REAL ADULT takes at least, co-responsibility for creating a new human being... when 'recreational sex' and birth control is otherwise SO readily available.

    DON'T be a 'hit-n-run' "playah", "Johnny Appleseed!

  • I mean, they shouldn't get last say, but if they would be the father, they should definitely get to voice their opinion and have it considered.

    • I contemplated aborting my child. I'd been on the pill and it failed. Like shit happens.

  • Because women didn't make the babies by themselves and fathers are still a thing. But I tell you what: If women deserve 100% of all reproductive rights, then rightfully, they deserve 100% of all child-rearing costs as well, and the father shouldn't be obligated to pay a single cent towards the child. After all, "women's bodies, women's choice," right? If you can self-impregnate, and don't need sperm, then you don't need a man in your life to help raise the child, either.

But good lord, I haven't read a post on this site THIS retarded in a long time. I feel SOOO sorry for the poor dude who ends up sticking his stick inside you. You sound like the kind of woman who would be best friends with Amber Heard. A real CUNTry girl.

    • Thank you.

  • They probably want the output of their input

  • It's meant to be fun to care for a child, and brings great joy and fulfillment. You generation of murderers are doing yourselves a great harm by participating and supporting abortion.

In about 130 years from now, quantum computers and medical nano-technology will advance so far they'll be able to save so much as a zygote from the moment of conception, proving it is a viable life form, and proving all you bitches are murderers for the past 65 years. I regret I won't live that long to tell you people, "I told you so".

  • Child maintenance payments for 18 years.

One argument I heard was based on legality of Courts ordering biological fathers to pay child maintenance for 18+ years, when they have no part in the mother's decision making.

Basically the argument is in favour of the woman having decision on whether to have an abortion or not, and this having no legal obligation for the biological father to have to pay child maintenance for 18 years.

    • And what was the outcome of this argument?

    • This totally feeds my point that abortion is a product of misogyny not feminism at all.

    • @likelyOK, I disagree, I don't think its the product of misogyny or feminism, it's simply the product of unprotected sex or contraception failure that results in an unwanted pregnancy. It's peoples opinions on abortion which probably fall under those headings in some cases.

    • Show All
  • You agree to have sex with another person, that means you both should have a say in the result. It is a hard subject but the guy should have a say in cases of abortion. Although I can't see how the legal system could make a woman carry a baby she didn't want. Though she should have thought of that when she agreed to have sex.

    • I agree but on the flip side some men, read the comments above by McCommodore, think they should be able to have a say in forcing women into abortion which is vile. I’m a prolifer too I just always have felt that abortion is the product of misogyny that has tricked women into thinking it’s about women’s rights.

    • @likelyOK Well I guess you have the right to a fucked up way of thinking about it. While I am 100% pro choice, I would never be able to ask a woman to get an abortion. Not that I think it is "killing a child" or any of that nonsense. And definitely not because people believe some "god" forbids it. It is one of the reasons I got a vasectomy a month before my 3rd son was born. I knew I never wanted more. 3 is plenty.

  • It takes both, to create the child. Maybe a 'mistake' for one, and not the other?
If she has total say, he is legally obligated to many things.
Not condoning idiots, that don't think, and act irresponsibly, or that any child should be aborted, as it is a complex issue.
Just saying that BOTH had a part in the creation, and therefore HE should have some rights, especially religiously, and Pro-Life.
For me, I don't get into those situations, so it is moot, to me, but not for others.

  • Some women are pro life too. I personally don’t think it’s as black and white as that I have to agree with the pro life side to an extent since some women seem to boast about how many abortions they’ve had so they can continue their promiscuous lifestyle however I totally understand why some women would want or even need an abortion.

    • Rare to see a girl pointing that out
