Some people use Jude 1:7 (which says that the Sodomites "went after strange flesh") as evidence, but that verse actually contradicts that point. The Sodomites went after foreigners. This is consistent with Genesis 18:20 that says that there was a great outcry against Sodom. Were people crying out because the Sodomites are having consensual gay sex? No. Genesis 19 provides an illustration of the way that the Sodomites abused foreigners.
Two angels arrived at Lot's house, under the disguise of men. All the people in Sodom gathered outside the house, demanding for the angels to be let outside, so that the Sodomites could gang-rape them. Yes, the angels presented as male, but Lot was also male. Why did the Sodomites try to rape the angels, but not Lot? Because the angels were foreigners.
Ezekiel 16:49-50 says "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."
No reference to homosexuality. Some people say that "abomination" refers to homosexuality, but to me, it clearly refers to how they would commit GANG-RAPE, as illustrated in Genesis 19. I'm not denying that the Bible says male homosexual intercourse is a sin, but if you genuinely believe consensual homosexuality is a greater abomination than GANG-RAPE (whether homosexual or heterosexual), then I'm not sure you're worth arguing with.

Some Bible scholars have shown that strange flesh means foreign but it is foreign to the opposite sex, which can imply it means homosexuality. In the New Testament, God makes it clear that people leave the natural use of the man or woman. No misunderstanding that to be about homosexuality.

I haven't looked into it. I'm pretty sure even if it isn't listed, it can be inferred as plenty of them there was. Lot was even willing to give his daughters over to angels. Maybe you can do a question about why Lot rather angels have sex with his daughters than with men.

Although it's common to think that it was all because of homosexuality since the word sodomy that we got from Sodom is generally categorized as anal sex, and the mob wanted to have sex with Lot's Male guests, in reality it's more than that. The town is described in the Bible as being a place full of sin, not just one type. Not only that, but sodomy can refer to any non procreation sexual act between humans or human to animals. In fact the destruction of Sodom was said to be because of a multitude of sins, whether it be rape (homosexual or otherwise), bad hospitality, lying, adultery, pride, arrogance, gluttony, refusal to help those poor and in need, etc. Think about all the people in the Bible who God chose and how many of them had horrible flaws or committed terrible sins, and now picture a city that was so bad that God would save it if only 10 decent people could be found. To say that it was destroyed solely because of homosexuality is nothing but projecting in order to fuel ignorance and bigotry.

I'm not religious but I'm following the logic: If the entire town was destroyed (presuming not all the citizens were aggressive), then the reason for destruction of Sodom was sinful behavior... you don't need any religion to make the only logical assumption.

Sodom was a town, not a nation. Yup, deviant sexual habits can cause many other disorders, including violence, so that was the root of the problem... Abrahamic religions are at least right about that.
I highly doubt that people were crying and sobbing to God because some guys IN ANOTHER CITY were having consensual gay relationships. How would they even know about it? It makes literally no sense. What makes much more sense is that there was an outcry because Sodom had a habit of gang-raping and abusing foreigners.

I highly doubt that god exist, he's a fictional character. However, if he were real, then he would have already known about those guys in Sodom... after all, he was suppose to be omniscient. No, of course I know that heterosexuals commit rape too, but much less often, because they are considered as normal in all the countries in the world, so they are less frustrated and don't need to force themselves on anyone. Only the most disturbed individuals are capable of such a crime.

I think it's because god's only daughter that ate 3 extra Mcribs was shunned for having "toys". So god's wife took a restraining order on the big guy but still took a hit out on his nanny daughter Jesarina. I'm atheist, though, in this case I support the bible, but from the scientific point of view.
A.) Primary goal of intercourse in nature is procreation.
Of course, pleasure is a side-effect, but not the primary goal of evolution.
Normal intercourse in humans includes two genders, that's the only way to naturally procreate as a mammal.
Two members of the same sex can't have children in a natural way, that's the irrefutable fact that includes all the vertebrates and invertebrates.
Sure, infertile couples can't - because they have a certain disorder, however, science can help them, because it's justified by natural order (two sexes).
B.) Furthermore, even animals that have male pregnancy (e. g Seahorse) includes two genders, the only difference is - males get pregnant instead of females (female injects her eggs into male's birth-cloaca, he fertilizes the eggs with his sperm, and carries out the pregnancy - offspring develops inside the male Seahorse).
C.) Some animals are Hermaphrodites - they are both male and female, they reproduce by either: Self-fertilization (e. g flatworms - they inseminate themselves);
or by Inter-fertilization (e. g snails and slugs - two hermaphrodites inseminate each other and both carry out pregnancy).
As you can see, even in this case - they keyword is: Two sexes (having both female and male reproductive organs).
D.) There are also some animals that can change sex from male to female and vice-versa, in case they found themselves in same-sex habitat (e. g some species of frogs) - yup, even amphibians know that you can't reproduce if you don't have a mate of the opposite sex.
E) Naturally, asexual animals are excluded because they don't have biological genders/sexes, they don't have intercourse at all, they reproduce by: fission, budding, spores, parthenogenesis, or by fragmentation.
In conclusion, whether the male is dominant or submissive, whether the female is dominant or submissive, whether the sexes are separate or joined into individual specimen of some hermaphrodite species, the common link is - only two sexes can have offspring in a natural way.

The answer is: I think the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is an allegory, but the reason for destruction of those two towns is quite realistic, considering that the story originated in ancient times (Antique period).

sexual intercourse involving anal or oral copulation. It did not specify what gender but it pretty much knocks out male homosexuality as a whole.

I’m not. But not everyone in those towns were guilty. At minimum there were children and babies in their mothers wombs. God killed everyone, them included.
Sodom was destroyed because a piece of Eden was used by the order of the ancients to try and kill a Sodomite Hidden One, but failed. This created a cataclysmic explosion that tore Sodom to pieces.

From what I've heard, sodomy is any kind of illegal/improper sex, or sex outside of marriage. And I'm sure there IS proof from the Bible (as per those who can properly interpret the Bible), but I've never been able to quote chapters and verses.
