Why do you think women are sexualized in Hollywood?

I've noticed more often, that movies and shows have been more sexualized. More nudity, sex and revealing outfits. I feel like women are being more objectified these days.

Whats your take on this?

  • Because men are visual. Men are visually excited, turned on, pleased and get great enjoyment seeing women nude or almost nude. Hollywood is mainly made up of male producers and directors. Many are kind of corrupt. Have you noticed almost every film or story seems to have a young female character get nude or almost nude, women are always having scenes where we need to watch them bath or take a shower. Endless scenes have do not need nudity... they are always just stuck in for the hell of it. It is always the young, female actress that is put upon to give up her personal privacy and modesty so millions of men can get a thrill getting to see her.
Tons of corrupt, abusive and perverted men in Hollywood.

    • Love this comment. So true

    • Thank you! Fuck Hollywood

  • You call it objectification. But i like it when I look sexy. Nothing objectifying with looking sexy

  • Actually there are much more restrictions in tv, on social networks, on youtube etc. on facebook, even if a girl post a photo with a small bikini it gets blocked, so i don't see what you said.
    I saw many of your posts where you talks about beautiful girls, sometimes you write negative things about celebrities who are valued for their beauty, now you say they should cover their bodies;
I feel like I'm talking to an envious and jealous child who is using the excuse of censorship to vent her insecurities.
Can i ask you what you think of the nudist communities, or the indigenous tribes who don't use clothings? When the humans weren't civilized they were idiots and corrupted by Satan?

  • Money and fame.

  • The same reason men are. Too see movie tickets and merchandising rights.

  • Sex sales?

  • Easy... sex sells. That's it. :)

  • Are they sexualized? Yes

More than the past? No. Possibly less, tbh. Audiences are less interested in nudity/sex scenes in movies than they were 15 or more years ago. Everyone has hardcore porn on their phone any time they want it, so... they don't need a softcore bit thrown into a movie.

    • Good point... I didn’t think of that.

    • @VIVANT har core porn is boring when compare with celebrity

  • Because men like sex and women like to watch women that are sexy to learn how to be sexier. Hence more viewers and more money.

  • Because women have fight for it. Some years ago women were very covered in movie but they have fight to have the right to be sexier on tv and liberate all sexual stuff so they began to show more sexual things on tv and began to sexualize women. This have never stopped and now some women are being bothered by it.
I'm quite confused because if we do stop to sexualize women on tv now would women in some years ago fight to be sexualized again on tv?

And usually they like to sexualize women (and men) on tv cause it sell more (and it's apparently easier to show some boobs rather than working on a interesting enough scenario).

  • I think you are right. And I would guess it's because men see women more as things than people. It's probably easier for them to obtain things than to get to know a person

  • Sex sells

  • Had toughness to that women are very sexual bosses special forces badasses I think it's Hollywood's take on trying to push their political agenda and sex always sells... Though it may be unfair and is sexualizing and using sex to sell... It's all about money

  • Both men and women are equally sexualized in Hollywood. Tom Hardy for example, he's a great actor but his movies make even more money from women hoping he will take his shirt off.

  • Because it gets more boys watching.
It used to be worse. It's still not great but women having the role of just a reward for the male hero and titillating for the audience is nothing new. In horror movies everything is always the fault of the women not controlling her curiosity, so sexism isn't exclusive to objectification, but that's another example where it's not as bad as before.
Lately there have been more shows and movies with female protagonists that aren't just there to look sexy but I think there's still a way to go.

    • Oh dude, there is a DAMN long way to go. We are at the stage where women are sorta, kinda getting equality, but it's in transition, so a lot of it is full force hypocrisy. Take Wonder Woman for example. Didn't see the movie, but just like sailor moon, feminists praise the shit outta it, yet it is BEYOND sexualizing. Wonder Woman and Sailor Moon both are in goddam high heels and outfits that wouldn't do shit against bullets. I've rarely seen a male hero not fully suited up and with a good sense of armor and I think of them as far more logical in design for it. This goes well beyond fictional hero stuff though. Once a girl is supposed to fight in any case, but does so in high heels and a outfit exposing most skin, the logic flies out the window and you know for a fact there is sexualization behind it.

    • @errorgoodnameunfound God are you a pathetic cuck wtf. Women like to wear slutty outfits that's what they are doing all the time so why the fuck would they change reality in movies just because some idiotic fools like you have a problem with it.

    • @6suejsjsj You should stop using movies as the basis of your views on reality.

  • Sorry Sex sells. Its in any business period.

Everyone is curious what their celebrity crush looks like naked or having sex. It is why every celebrity sex tape gets millions of views.

  • Sex sells. Same reason they are treated same way in advertising.

  • They made movies trying to sell curvy as the new thing still do. I wonder if they did well. I wouldn't know, never watched.

  • Because it sells.

  • 100%. Just look at modern music videos even. Look at WAP - Cardi B. I think it’s all intertwined with the modern feminist movement which promotes the idea promiscuity is empowering. Sexuality always sells, but it’s been especially amplified at the same rate of progressivism in US culture.
