Why does my granny sit on top of the washing machine?

Question

She says it needs extra weight to hold it down during the fast spin cycle. Bit I'm not sure that's true these days, perhaps it was back in the day but nowadays washing machines are really heavy. She's getting on a bit now and needs a hand climbing on a and I can see she struggles holding the washing machine down cos she shakes and moans. I've offered to do it for her bit she's got her pride and won't let me.

You can always tell when granny is drying the laundry. From the other side of the house, you can hear her crying out encouragement to the old machine. "Oh yes!", "That's it", "Don't stop!" "WoooHooooo!", "Oh blessed Jesus, Mary and Joseph YEEEEESSSSS!!!"

LoL it sounds like a lewd joke, but my landlord is in charge of providing the washing machine here and the piece of shit is always crashing around.

Maybe I'll suggest my wife sit on it. Who knows it might improve her disposition. LoL

My machine would sometimes walk during the spin cycle a few years ago. That happens because the load inside is unequally distributed.
