Because women are usually virgins by choice. For men, it’s usually not a choice. Doesn’t make it right, but that’s the reason it exists.

I do not believe that there is. I was a virgin until I met my wife. She was not.

It's not all about virginity, it's about body count.

Okay….. why is there such a double standard when it comes to how many people you have been with

I don't have a high body count so I don't want someone like that either. People with high body counts can get together with other people that have high body counts.

I don't know why guys are mocked for being virgins and women are praised for it.

I think it's because hot women get approached for sex and hit on a lot. If she's still a virgin at 21 by some miracle she's seen as rare and a great catch. Some particular guys see her as a possible loyal girlfriend or wife. For average guys getting sex is quite an accomplishment, and the older they get without getting women, the more they're seen as inexperienced losers. I was so embarrassed that I was a virgin at 21 that I lied and told my first girlfriend that I had sex at 17 just so she would think I was cool. She had been with 6 guys already, and I didn't tell her I was a virgin until after we had sex. She was like "Holy shit!!" It was too late for her to reject me at that point. LoL!

Not to mention that women get sex so easily that prostitution is a real job. Guys are seen as more impressive if they can even get sex let alone paid for it.

There are plenty of male prostitutes too

Seriously? I mean I know there's always been gay ones who have sex with old guys, but are you implying that I could go stand on a street corner right now and some woman would give me $80 to lick her vagina?

You're naive. The average guy isn't going to make any money selling his body. Ant woman who's at least doable can always sell her ass if she has to survive. The two genders aren't equal when it comes to sex. Female pornstars even get paid way more than the men. If I could be a prostitute I would. So would most other guys, but it just isn't possible for us. If you don't believe that men and women are treated differently just do an experiment. Make yourself a blue profile here and see what it's like. As a pink one you get constant attention, guys are constantly trying to follow, message and interact for sex. As a guy you get none of that unless you're exceptional looking or you have such a great personality that occasionally women want to get closer. Most women get attention and sex easily, that's why their virginity is seen as virtuous. Most guys get rejected and we have to be more valuable to get sex, that's why male virgins are generally seen as incels, losers etc. Men with experience are seen as valuable to women.

Well, not necessarily the definition of a double standard is "A rule or principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups." For this to be a double standard it would have to be unfair. There's logical reasons to why female virginity is seen as virtuous by a lot of males, and male virginity is seen as being inexperienced and an Incel or loser by a lot of women. They're two different genders that experience life in different ways. Life isn't set up to be fair for either of them to begin with so the double standard label is basically incorrect in this situation. I'm just trying to clarify why the confusion exists, and this issue gets labelled incorrectly.

If you're implying that there's a double standard because female virginity is praised, and male virginity is shamed, you have to remember that they're different sexes. They can't be held to the same standard on this issue because they are treated, and experience sexuality in very different ways. It isn't really a double standard because it isn't unfair, it's just the reality of how the two sexes are treated differently based on their differences. If they're were no differences between the sexes and how they're treated sexually, then it would be a double standard, but they are different so it's just a part of human nature that doesn't fit with idealism and moral codes. You'll find a lot of things in life are like that. The truth of human nature conflicts with man made moral codes and societal standards.

That’s like saying you can’t hold men and woman to same legal standards because men have more violent inclinations because they have higher testosterone.

Well, and in a lot of cases men are held to different standards in that regard. As a man who was physically abused by my ex I knew there was nothing I could do, but take it. Society doesn't care as much about a male being sexually or physically assualted by women. However, I didn't dare lay a finger on her or I knew I would be locked up so fast, and likely never see my kid again. They do take into consideration the size and strength and testosterone in males when determining whether or not we're victims as compared to females. There is different treatment, but it's mostly justified because again, the genders are obviously not equal in every way.

And you think that is okay? That men are getting get screwed over in family court because they aren't the mother? The men are prosecuted more severely for violent crimes over than women even when committing the same crime? You don't think that is a double standard?
