Why isnt sexual assult and domestic violence against women in India is not taken seriously?
I'm a huge fan of the bollywood industry and I noticed whenever a celebrity or Indian women reports that they been sexually assulted or abused its not taken seriously and men say there should be more protection for them when it comes to situations of women accusing them of this type of behavior. What's your thoughts?

Counter question if the women accused the man of domestic violence or sexual assult in India and the court grants the man Interm protection from arrest do you think that's a chance for the victim to lose their case because of the court granting their abuser that? I seen this happen a couple of times so I'm just wondering.

  • Indians take women being raped and assaulted. In cities they go reported and get justice. But india is a large country. In poor areas , villages their may not be access to freedom and free speech of girls , but that's rapidly changing now a days.
To be fair west has way more sexual victims than India , but girls don't report much and keep it to themselves. In india society is kinda orthodox and media is obsessed with rape news so the highlight them too much for their own publicity. Currently india has more strict laws for women. That includes death penalty for murder and rape or only rape for a child.
Rape and domestic violence are different. But indian women have wrongly used their power after being rejected by a guy for marriage , divorced or even after having consensual sex and live in relationships for years , if the guy breaks up with the girl. Then the girl or girls family lodge complaint against the guy with rape charges. After strict laws being introduced from 2013. The nation's capital has seen 53% of rape accusation were false.
Now coming to domestic violence , it does happen and not always the actual case. In India people see family values more than anything else. Girls are still expected to do household chores and men enjoy the benefits of a patriarchal society. Like rape cases all domestic violence cases are not legit. But it is actually worst in villages or remote places where women are expected to shut up.
North Indian states are generally more oppressive about women , south india is more conservative. Eastern India is much better when it comes to women empowerment and freedom.
Also india has a dowry system which is illegal by law but still being circulated. By which a women's family is expected to give some wealth to the groom and many times when they fail the girl is being subjected to harrasment by not only men but from mother of the groom too.

    • Oh wow this all makes sense. Yes the U. S have a lot of sexual assults and domestic violence cases its so sad.

    • No , court can issue interim bail as the person is still accused and not guilty. If the girl drop charges then either it's false or she is being blackmailed... I have personally helped a friend with a alleged rape only to know later that it was consensual and it I had to deal with much trouble later with the authorities by helping her. Due to society being conservative women lie a lot about their sexual activities

    • Mmmn that's interesting

  • Girl, I hope you don't stereotype based in a few cases. Yes, there are a few nefarious issues here in this regard but things are improving. More and more people are standing up to these shenanigans. The judicial system needs an overhaul. There are a few flaws there which allow the perpetrators to escape severe sanctions. I don't know why a certain section of Western media is so hell bent on coming to a conclusion without proper research. Please don't buy into a lot of their narratives. I know that my country needs to keep women safer.

    • Based on*

    • Omg please don't feel that I'm stereotyping. I just saw a recent case of some Indian actor being accused of sexual assult and domestic violence against his ex and I saw nothing but men in the comments blaming her saying this is false, fake accusation etc etc. There's even men Facebook pages putting down women and supporting this actor. I believe the victim because I had an experience with him but thats a different story. But I'm glad that India is doing something about this matter when it comes to women and abuse

    • Girl, I get your point. A lot of those men are imbecile and trolls. There are tonnes of sane people here who would always stand up for the victim. The perpetrators fear the society more today. We're a long way off from where we need to be, and the road is a bit bumpy too, but we'd eventually get there. :)

  • It's a patriarchal society and many women don't come forward to report these because of guilt, shame and insult. On the contrary sone cases aren't genuine too, so it's always difficult.

  • I guess it has to do with their culture. Sadly in most cultures/countries domestic violence against women is not taken seriously. India is one of those countries where women don't have rights, so they can't complain and if they do, no cares about them.

  • Because female rape victim blaming is a huge thing in India. If women were raped in India, people will just say that it is her fault because "her clothes were indecent and whorish" which is obviously nonsensical.

Pretty funny to be honest due to the fact that there are many female goddesses in Hinduism. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • Dude, trust me. There are a lot of sane guys in India and our kind is growing day-by-day. We always stand up for the victim. The judicial system is a bit flawed. Real Hindus don't assault anybody. We're always taught to respect women.

  • Different countries have different rules that govern society.
Some countries are a little backwards with women and their rights. To the point that women are second class citizens, sadly.
They really do not get a fair day in court, or probably other legal things.

  • For the first part I hate bollywood Industry, I saw my friends making wrong choices because they watched it happening in a movie!(wtf is wrong with Kabir shing), their concept of love affect people in real life.
Now about the domestic violence part! Yes I agree, my mom faced domestic violence for a long time. There was just no way my father would understand, I was little so I could not do anything. I realised my mom was still there just for me (well her parents would not accept her and the society!) Now, then I have been thinking how to stop my life from this shit! I could not meddle with adult stuffs. So the last time it happened it was so extreme my mom's parents came and wanted to took mom away, I went with her. Without even realising it, I realised that I used my father's love for me to stop this violence cuz he called me after 8 days and asked to return home (obviously with mom).
As I have experienced how it can affect not only the victim but also the people surrounding them, I think it should taken seriously!
But I do have disagree about the man thing, I have also seen guys being oppressed by their wives just because they are calm and don't process so much anger.
At then end of the day, violence should not be an answer! My mom was just too good for my father but I can't question their marriage because it is a matter of my existence.

    • I noticed a lot of bollywood romantic movies are very repetitive. Same story line however with different characters lol. Anyway I'm sorry about your mother situation 😔 its unfortunate that happened.

  • Be on guard and don't walk alone at night, this will get you out of trouble most often than not. Trust in a guy is also really important. When a bad situation happens it's unlucky if you took all the right precautions. You can't expect there to be help all the time.

    • Yeah there's lots of evil in the world.. In amerca we feel safe doing whatever even walking half naked in public (i dont do that, its gross) but we really take the freedom for granted and use it for stupidity

  • Indian women are protected..

Yes the situation can be improved...
But "Vikrams case" shows how some women accusé men wrongly and can destroy their lives..
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/theprint.in/india/how-do-i-start-life-at-43-asks-vishnu-tiwari-who-spent-20-years-in-jail-in-false-rape-case/618521/%3famp

That's why men fear.. That making rules better for women and hard for men...
Can screw up a man's life if he is wrongly accused..

  • lets just say, people should take care of the problem. one way or another.

    • Could you please elaborate?

    • I think it's obvious. If the govt. or police don't solve the problem the people should.

    • Mmmmh makes sense.

  • India is a very conservative nation. Conservatives don't take women plight seriously.

  • Probably due to the Caste system.

    • The fact that still exist is sad.

    • Yep but then you can't teach old dogs new tricks if they do not want to change.

  • That’s disgusting.

  • Humans has reached their bottom.. the main issue is women are enemy of their own kind their comment on the victim about her character... And what to say about max man they use their dick instead of brain to think... According my research this is generally due to bad parenting, improper friends and mostly because of education about humanity

  • It's taken seriously enough that the innocent get linched.

  • In India, men accused of sexual crimes AND their entire families get thrown in prison with no trial.

  • I should say, the Western countries are also not in short of cases of violence against women.

Don't mind what some people posts on social media, the legal system is strong, but I agree there would always be people trying to protect the accused due to various reasons. That happens everywhere.

Also interim protection is given to any person accused of any crime, if the courts deem that fit. It's a matter of facts and circumstances of the case
