This was like the top thing to do in highschool lol. I think every girl I knew was all about it. Even my sister, which was the most awkward time of my life.
My wife who I've been with since highschool still loves doing it on our washer. She even has an old little car that shakes insanely bad when its just sitting there idling that drives her crazy lol. We have definitely used that car to our advantage many times lol

It could be awkward given the positioning of the appliances, but whomever is on the appliance would benefit from the added stimulation of vibrations if the machine is running. I've never done it though it seems worth trying... for science.
