I'm a naked sleeper, I love it because it just feels good in a nice kind of way so I can see why your daughter is attracted to sleeping naked. I think I began sleeping in my birthday suit about sixteen or so, I'd either get too hot and sweaty and get all tangled up in the sheets from tossing and turning in my sleep. It was never a sexual thing or reason until I got married and my husband sleeps naked too, I mostly love snuggling with him. Doesn't always lead to sexy time, it has but not always, usually when we head to bed it's because we're dog tired and ready to go to sleep.
Now for your daughter; she should already have a lock on her bedroom door if she doesn't already, (it's a privacy thing not a naked sleeping thing). Others should already be respecting her privacy or desire for privacy and be knocking on her door before barging into her room unannounced! That's just a respectful way to treat her. Recognize that there might be times when others may enter her room while she is unclothed; maybe a big old bathrobe would be a good quick coverup in an emergency. (I've never experienced an emergency in my nakedness!)
She can reserve the panties for the week Auntie Flo comes to visit, that's what I've always done.
Look at it this way, she's just trying to explore her individuality, the way I see it, this is a pretty harmless manner! Really!!

I don't think that's a good idea for any reason. If there's an emergency and she needs to get out of her room or someone needs to get in, it's going to be embarrassing. I think you need to ask her why she suddenly thought about asking

That's not a good enough reason for her to want to sleep naked - just because her friends are doing it. She's your daughter, just ask her. This is a very weird and unusual question for her to ask in the first place and you need to find out why. Is she uncomfortable in clothes? Does she have a rash? Is she in pain? Is she too warm?
As long as you explain she can not do that at other homes or when friends are over I don't see it as a problem. As well as making clear she must dress before she exits her room at any time
How to talk with her about this
Just sit her down and say it's about you sleeping naked tell her then say this is the rules if you do. No leaving your room, Do not do this at other peoples homes or when other people are here in our home. And finally state that if she chooses to follow through with it that she will need to dress before leaving her room at any time because it may upset or embarrass another in the home. And leave the conversation like that if she tries to argue say no this is my house I am the adult that's final

This is perfectly natural, healthy, safe, and I believe it would be REALLY weird to FORCE someone who is learning proper boundaries, healthy platonic based family and friend relationships, self respect and personal space/nudity doesn't automatically mean sexual or erotic or creepy. However, if ANY family, friend or stranger has ulterior motives regarding any insidious, immoral and unforgivable acts of incomprehensible evil then OBVIOUSLY for that rare but important to include as the disclaimer. I was raises by my aunt who was a single mom. It was her raising her 3 daughters (my cousins who were basically sisters to me) , my two sisters and I. The 5 girls and I were taught, mentor, and raised in safe but completely open and honest environment. We thankfully. were raised by highly intelligent humans that helped clarify and reinforce throug real life actions/examples of proper boundaries, respect, thouroughly educated with caring, gentle, empathic naturalist beliefs
Naked sleeping is much more comfortable for many people. But she should not do it just because her friends do it. You at one point asked how to initiate a conversation with her about it. She already did. Just go back and tell her after thinking about it you are better able to answer her now.
Many families are comfortable with nudity in the house. That would make the answer easy, but it seems that is not the case in your family. So explaining that in her room, alone, it is fine. She should have a robe nearby for trips to the bathroom and in case of an emergency, like fire.

I slept nude from a young age. There's nothing inherently sexual about Nudity, and some people are just more comfortable that way, myself included. I will alow my children to sleep nude if they so choose.

I've been sleeping naked for years, it's basically impossible to sleep comfortably with clothes on.
I had moved to Germany and they have a totally different view on nudity. My ex wife would be naked around the house all the time, her son too. Not a big deal or issue. Being naked has no sexual agenda in most other countries. I say if she would want to, let her. If you make an issue of it, so will she.

Depends on their age. Mid to late teens yes. They need to learn to make their own choices, before being dumped into the real world, and that's a relatively harmless choice.

I wouldn't care unless there are other factors at play like a shared bedroom. Micromanaging her every move won't prepare her for adulthood. You aren't raising a child, but a future adult, I say it's time to carefully pick your battles.
