Is it bad to give a "dry" hand job?

Hey I was wondering if it is bad to give a dry hand job (hand job without any lubrication)? What if you are in the moment making out and start to reach down to give the guy a hand job? Is it OK to just do it dry? It seems really strange to abruptly stop everything & get something to lubricate it. I've heard you can use spit...but to me, it seems weird to out of nowhere spit your hand...and I am not intending on using my mouth. What do you think? What are your experiences with this?
