Why do men find pubic hair on woman gross? (When they have hair themselves)

This is a response to another question I saw. I do not see how it would be gross if she washes daily. Just like the hair on our heads. If you was it as you should, then it is not dirty, smelly, or gross. I think the real thing that bothers me is the fact that it seems like so many guys find it gross when a woman has pubic hair yet they do absolutely nothing about theirs. I understand preferring no pubic hair but to say that it is gross seems extreme. This is more directed to guys that do nothing about their pubic hair but call a woman's pubic hair gross. Also I understand that body and pubic hair is seen as masculine but why is that? It naturally grows on the woman's body, so if something is naturally occurring on the woman's body, how can it be masculine?

Here are two of my stock answers to this reoccurring question. The second has to do with vaginal shape, but it is related:

1.) Keep in mind the whole bald thing is just a current trend. If anyone is aghast at the sight of pubic hair he is probably pretty young and grew up on contemporary mainstream p*rn which features little to no hair. Biologically, pubic hair is a secondary sex characteristic. It is one of the features that distinguishes little girls from fertile females. That being the case, anyone who is turned off by it has been conditioned by popular sexual aesthetics. Besides, no one has ever sad to a bald beavered lady, "Hey, nice mons pubis!"

2.)Unless you are actually deformed, only an insecure guy would turn you down for the shape of your vagina. While I agree that natural selection has created man to be driven by beauty there are far too many standards a young woman feels that they should live up to today. I can totally accept, "Don't be too fat, too old or have hairy legs" but now girls have to worry about pubic hair, vagina shape. etc.! This is getting out of hand. I'm definitely no feminazi, but underage access to p*rn is a problem. Not because it is inherently immoral to view p*rn at a young age, but because the high degree of aesthetic conformity in mainstream p*rn has been influencing nude style in young women and what young men have come to expect. So girls, don't worry so much. And shame on any guys who make a girl feel unattractive for having pubic hair (something that distinguishes a little girl from a woman for Christ sakes) or the wrong kind of labia!

@Paige90 Jesus fucking Christ woman, just because she doesn't shave one area doesn't mean she doesn't shave at all. I feel better shaving my armpits and legs, especially in the summertime. i don't find it gross. if anything I'd actually am more disturbed by shaved nether regions as it makes me feel like I'm looking at a pre-pubescent girls genitals... not that I am disturbed by it but if either were going to bother me it would be shaved.

Blame p*rn. I guess its acceptable for everyone to have a little but just a little. Cause I get grossed out when I see a bush on anyone. Most men trim ... but the important thing about sex or oral sex is to just get as little as possible so that your partner does't get any hair in their mouth. And Pubic hair isn't masculine, men aren't just sexualized as much. Personally too much is icky on anyone .

Il_Fonz has an excellent answer and explanation in my opinion. I would only like to further add on to it by saying that it might also be due to another type of reaction.

Possible explanation:

It may also have something to do with oral sex during times foreplay before fornication. if you have ever eaten a meal at a restaurant or wherever and discovered a hair in your food during chewing or on your plate, more often than not it has a negative reaction. It could quite possibly be a fear of that occurring during oral sex that would also cause most guys to feel disgusted by pubic hair. They are more worried about getting a hair in their mouth and that can cause a similar negative response.

Natural hair on women is fine. I have no problem with it anywhere including arms, underarms and legs. I know that is not typical in the US. It's more of a European cultural thing. I sent about 12 years living in Europe. I think whatever the women wants to do is fine if it makes her feel good. She doesn't have to do anything on my account.

It's not gross to me. When I see pictures of how women used to be (back before everybody started all this shaving and waxing), I think it looks really sexy. I mean, it's supposed to be there, and it shows that she's a sexually mature female. So I'm all for girls declaring their independence from feeling like they HAVE to remove their pubic hair. I like either full bush or lightly trimmed. Shaving is not necessary. I think pubic hair adds to the appearance of a woman's vulva rather than detracting from it. The hair provides a nice contrast to the skin tone, and effectively 'frames' the labia. Mmmm nice :-)
