Do you agree that incel attacks are a form of terrorism?

The 'Terrorism and Violent Extremism Awareness Guide', released in 2015, was intended to help parents and first responders recognize “indicators or early warning signs” of violent radicalization and terrorist planning.

It lists a variety of symbols and behaviours associated with groups like the anti-capitalist Black Bloc and ISIS.'The update to the guide is the latest sign the government now views incels as a public safety threat in the wake of attacks that have killed 11 and injured 19 in the country over the past two years.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service subsequently recognized incel attacks as a form of ideologically motivated violent extremism, or IMVE, in its annual report to Parliament.

Incels, or “involuntary celibates,” are men unable to attract sexual partners who frequent online discussion groups where they portray themselves as victims. Violence and misogyny are recurring themes on incel forums.“Generally, male incels do adhere to a train of thought in which women are dehumanized by only defining them by their ability to give sex to men, and they carry an intense anger towards women because they will not give it to incels,” Renske van der Veere wrote in a paper published last week by the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – the Hague.

“The movement is also increasingly associated with violence.”

The RCMP said incels fell “within a broad range of ideologies under IMVE.”

Written by Moonshot CVE, the guide said incels were a public safety threat and described the men involved in the “incel ecosystem” as “angry, isolated, depressed and often suicidal.”

  • Uh... I agree that terrorism is terrorism-- whether it's conducted in the name of inceldom or not doesn't matter. This Canadian van killings on the bridge by that one asshole was definitely terrorism, because of what he did, and why he did it obviously matters in that, but that it was done specifically in the name of inceldom is irrelevant. He could have just as easily done it in the name of Christianity or white supremacy or Al-qaeda or whatever and the outcome would have been the same.

  • Everyone just needs to get laid more.

  • no, I think they just salty and want to make everyone else know how they feel.

    • They murder people frequently...

    • And rape them/glorify it/support it

  • I think you are a terrorist.

  • No, terrorism is generally committed to spread fear and push some ideology. Incel attacks are usually an individual lashing out because of their own distress.

  • InCel ideology, no. InCel attacks, yes.

  • Yes I think it should.

  • I'm not all too familiar with many incel attacks, but from what I've seen, yes. It's violence that is backed, based, or founded on politics, which is the definition of terrorism.

  • Google gives me a different definition for incel.

  • Of course. There are plenty of them on here.

  • The incels that act out and kill and target people are domestic terrorists I think

  • Whats the difference if we say that it is terrorism or not. How will that prevent an angry guy from gutting a bunch of women like fish?

    • on the surface you are right terrorism and other acts of violence appear very similar in their outcome; but recognizing the difference is vital to the act of PREVENTING terrorism. terrorism is the pursuit of violence for political gain. this has a massive psychological difference in how a terrorist thinks vs a violent person for other reasons. so a terrorist will seek different targets and have different goals for their violent acts than a non terrorist

    • @007kingifrit i see

  • I see your point.

  • I would say the actions of feminist are more like a terrorist group.
They are violent, control the media, and will do anything to silence their opposition.

  • incel is a dumb word. The only true incels are handicapped people, most anyone can find a girl to fuck, it's just a matter of standards.

These so called 'incels' are just men who would rather date nobody than the women they have access to. Look, it used to be one woman, one man, and we didn't have this problem. Now it's 80% of women fucking 20% of guys, yeah, there is some anger there.

The whole topic is misunderstood to such a degree, it must be on purpose. This is just another psy op to pit people against each other.

    • Do you still think it's fair if handicapped or in some way disabled people are involuntarily celibate?

    • @UncleJessieRabbit well that's on them, Autistic people who actually try to learn and apply social skills through speech therapy might have a better chance of not becoming an incel, unlike those who let their disorder rule them

    • @UncleJessieRabbit how are all disabled people considered ugly though?

    • Show All
  • When incels attack, yeah, its terrorism. And a delightful opportunity to bag 5 million dollars courtesy of Uncle Sam.

    Simples...

  • i have a masters in counterterrorism; terrorism is the use of violence or fear to enact political change

someone attacking someone because they hate that group is not attempting to enact political change, so it is not terrorism

also you shouldn't use the term incel, everyone doesn't get sex sometimes, we as a society are dealing with an epidemic of loneliness as more than 1/3 of people report not having any friends they see on a regular basis. people don't go outside and don't have any chance to meet people

... and you idiots came up with a new term to make fun of the lonely

  • I disagree with the characterisation of incels here but that doesn't matter to the question.

No incels are not terrorists. Terrorism is using violence for political aims, the attacks that have come from incels are generally revenge attacks against the big bad world, they are usually sporadic and unfocused
where as terrorist attacks have some focused enemy they are intending to attack.

  • Strictly speaking, I don't think so. It is the same as any "ideological movement" you have some followers who are fine people just a little misguided all the way to the hard core "terrorist" ones. Is it fair to lump them all together as terrorists? I don't think so.

  • Life ends with death, I am simply expediting the process
