Do you believe that ankle bracelets are meant to represent that you're a prostitute?

I was told by someone that I shouldn't wear them because the Bible said not to. What are your thoughts? I just like them to dress up my outfit. If you know what I mean 😂.

  • Q: What Does it Mean When a Woman Wears an Anklet on Her Left Ankle?

A: Most people wear an anklet on the left ankle without thinking anything of it. However, there is s subculture of anklet wearing people who view this quite differently. Wearing an anklet with heart charms on your left ankle could be a signal that you're interested in "hooking up" without a serious commitment. Anklets are also commonly worn this way by a woman who is interested in an open relationship, a hotwife relationship, or a relationship with other women.

Q: What Does it Mean to Wear an Anklet on Your Right Ankle?

A: For most, it means they prefer it to their left foot, and nothing more than that. Some say that when someone wears an anklet on their right foot it means they are single and have no lover. In some subcultures, however, if a person is married or in a committed relationship and wears anklets on their right foot, it means that they are looking to have an affair or fling.

What Is the Significance of an Ankle Bracelet?
By Staff WriterLast Updated April 09, 2020
Ankle bracelets are known to have a significant meaning in the underground sexual subcultures in the USA. The bracelets signify the sexual availability of the people wearing them.
Whereas a right anklet means you are taken, a left anklet means you are available. Anklets on both sides mean you are both taken and open to others. However, most people in the U. S. who wear anklets do so only for adornment/decoration. In other cultures, such as those found in India, anklets are an important part of the marriage ceremony; they serve much the same symbolic purpose as the wedding ring does in the U. S.

Just search online, "anklet signify sexual availability" and you will see many sources that say an ankle bracelet signifies that the woman is available for casual sex regardless if she is in a relationship or not.

  • I only know of Isaiah mentioning anklets.
In that context there is the talk about the ''Daughters of Zion''.
To me this indicates a specific scenario and situation.
But we know that a certain kind of religious activist always tries to see more in a statement than there is. Typically, such activists tend to nose around in other people's lives more than in their own; and also typically, they all lack of a healthy sex life.
I assume that Isaiah's wife must have been quite a bore.

If it's acceptable to state that ''guns don't kill'' (necessarily)
then it's logic that an anklet does not prostitute (necessarily)

  • Whoever told you that does not understand what it was referring to they're taking it out of context and if by any chance they were referring to the fact that it ankle bracelet is a representation of prostitution will they are definitely incorrect.
Ok first your question does ankle bracelets make a girl a slut and the bible saying not to wear them doesn't go hand in hand.
The Bible isn't implying that she is a prostitute because of the anklets.
"In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets;"
If we're going to take this bible line literally then apparently we can't wear headbands pendants scarves headgear slashes perfume and a number of things. But it's not because they're claiming it as sexual...
What they're trying to say is not to let these things get to our heads these fineries are not more important than God. We should not worship or overly admired these objects to the extent where we're more concerned with achieving having these item than focusing on being a good person and loving God first.
Remember this was written during the time where these objects were not easily obtained they didn't have a Walmart down the street and these objects certainly didn't cost under 2 dollars. During those times obtain such lavish items people would have to go to extreme means. People riding the Bible was simply concerned that taking these extreme means would pull you away from worshiping and paying respect to God
Basically you can inform whoever told you that ankle bracelets were bad or a sign of being a prostitute that they are incorrect the Bible does not state that you cannot wear ankle bracelets it's simply telling you not to get sidetracked in attempting to buy or afford flashy objects to the extent where nothing else not even God matters.

    • People riding the Bible TYPO Writing the** Anyways I hope that did not come off as a religious rant I was more aiming to explain where the concept of wearing flashy items to be sinful came from

    • In the words of Mr. Spock, "Fascinating."

    • @Bluemax Thank you Max.

  • I started wearing ankle bracelets and waist beads when I was 8. This obviously is new information to me, but I don't care really and if I found that out when I was 8 I think I still would've wore them. So in short words.. No I don't believe that represents you as a prostitute.

  • Absolutely not. The only biblical meaning you're likely to find is that a not of older religions used them as lucky charms of sorts. As such they may be viewed as slightly pagan? Alternatively any jewelry is mildly frowned upon by the bible - including rings which is actually directly spoken against.

As for common interpretations? None really. I imagine most women would not buy them and so it will more often mean they already have a partner.

  • i'm sure the bible doesn't have micro mini dresses either... also they say girls that give head wear a choker... maybe they do but it's also fashionable to wear one.

  • Why should should you care what they think about that if you like them wear them

  • No. Or rather I'd imagine if I asked a woman with an ankle bracelet to blow me for 100 dollars she would just get mad.

  • I think willfully being a degenerate is wrong.

  • Stop listening to obviously silly people. At the very least, have them pull out (ha!) their bible and show you the "quotes".

  • Chokers has history of been used by prostitutes so wouldn't be shocked if it's the same place ankle bracelets came from. But I've never looked into that so could be 100% wrong.
Either way no I don't believe that because that's not what they are used for in today's society whether or not they have been used as such before.

  • Give me precise verses stating that. The Bible does address "adornment", though.

  • Nah I love ankle bracelets

  • They are sexy as hell but I never heard that about them.

  • no , that is silly

  • I dont think any accessory or a piece of clothing makes a girl slut, its just that people can never see others happiness, so my advice would be to wear whatever you like and ignore the negativity 🙂

  • To be honest no I do not they're kind of sexy however a quote " Tramp Stamp Tattoo " in small of your back " is a definite warning LMFAO

  • Yea you feel cute when you wear them 😊

  • Whomever told you that believes in Jezebel!🤣

Personally, I LOVE them on my girl. And if she asked me to, I would buy MORE of them for her! They're sexy AF!

  • I can't recall any reference to ankle bracelets in the Bible. There are some references to prostitutes though.

  • It's not so.

  • never heard that have them show you in the bible

  • Never beaded that one ☝️

  • That is where lipstick came from
