How do you typically feel about rape scenes in movies/TV?

I found "I Spit On Your Grave" very difficult to watch. Somebody said in a comment on my other poll (vote here if you haven't) that they're sexually aroused by rape scenes. It was a pink account but looking at her profile, I am skeptical that she isn't either fake or a troll.

I'm also going to add in poll options about sadistic pleasure because a movie critic Roger Ebert said that when he was in the theatre of ISOYG, he heard some people cheering during the rape scenes.

  • Oh you guys didn't watch the original?
    Watch the original one.
I didn't like the modern remakes.

Okay yeah, I've jerked off to that movie, as well as rape scenes in other movies, I'm not gonna.
Usually "Rape Porn" turns me off but in the case of this movie (and I'm talking about the original here, the original wasn't so bad) I was more turned on by the fact that a nerdy virgin was finally getting laid and his friends were watching and making him go deeper. I mean, I felt bad that they fucked the girl up, but I felt aroused that this nerdy virgin was finally getting laid, because he reminded me of himself.

But it's not just rape of girls, because I also got turned on by a girl on guy rape scene in the "Dreamers".

In the end, it's just a movie, and it's not like she's ACTUALLY getting raped. You can see that the guy's dick wasn't even hard.

And in another movie it was a prostitute that was getting "raped", and her expressions just turned me on.

But the one in Showgirls DIDN'T because the girl got really fucked up.

The ones in the Grave remakes didn't turn me on, 'cuz they were too brutal, but the one in the original wasn't so bad. And note, I only got turned on by the nerdy virgin guy raping her. So it depends. I usually don't get turned on if the guys are pure thugs.

    • My friend told me that the original is way more brutal, and I could barely watch the modern movies so I can't imagine finishing the original

    • Really, maybe by 70s standards, but certainly not by modern standards. It was just pretty bloody though. They did quite a number on the girl, and she did some damage back, but I think the modern ones were far more gorey. "Naked Fear" was also pretty good.

    • "Certainly not by modern standards" the sodomy scene in the 70's version was soooo much more horrific in my opinion (both are horrible but yeah)

  • I did not see this movie. I generally dont tend to watch movies with rape scenes in general, as they are often disturbing or sometimes they are present in B rated films with bad acting. I also tend to be teary at animation or emotional films and I am not sure how I would react to it once I see a rather realistic rape scene. Sure it can be arousing in some sense but I generally relate most with the victim. I tend to feel like being her/ a helpless bystander or her family who is watching this unfold. I look at it like a tragic tale. Sometimes that can be arousing, sometimes just kills any mood. Sometimes I tend to fancy that I have access to the victim and nurturing her back to health and a happier life to feel better. This part is actually something I enjoy... thinking like someone who would help her get over the trauma. I don't know maybe its weird.

  • I'm going to be open and honest here, I'm 100% female and I find rape scenes in movies and TV very arousing. It's not something I consciously set out to do, I can't help myself. I don't feel sorry when I see it in movies because I know it's an actor and nobody is actually getting hurt.
I'll also come out and admit that I enjoy reading rape confession stories from women describing in detail what happened to them. Now the stories I read are mostly made up and from women who also have a rape kink.
In fact a lot of the things I am into sexually revolve around rape, I enjoy consensual rape role play with my boyfriend. I like to be choked and tied up. Anything that reminds me of rape, will most certainly turn me on.
I would also like to point out that I am a victim of sexual abuse from my step father when I was 10. Most people who have a rape kink are people who have experienced some kind of sexual encounter before purity. Most of us are aware that rape is wrong, and should never happen but in a controlled environment it can be very stimulating.

    • Me too

    • Me too!

  • Guess i am more circumspect than most other posters. Since i know it is a movie and it isn't really a rape, but rather actors pretending a rape is happening, I'm fine with it. Sort of like a murder scene, nobody was actually murdered. And if the guy is hot, I mightneven get a bit turned on by it. Don't confuse the prior statement to mean i want to be raped (nobody wants to have sex against their will). But I love it when a hot guy that I want to have sex with takes control and has his way with me.

  • I've watched the movie "the last house on the left" and there was a rape scene in it. It made me incredibly uncomfortable, grossed out and I felt like crying.

Yes, I've watched "rape" porns before and got aroused by it but it isn't the same as the ones you see in movies. Movies are actually good at portraying how traumatizing rape can be which makes it look more realistic and scary while porn just have awful actors so it makes it look very fake.

So no, I don't get sexually aroused by rape scenes in movies. Only in porn.

  • I just view it as part of the story line. We see people get murdered in films daily and don't bat an eyelid so why do we react to rape scenes.

    • I agree completely. Also, I saw all three ISOYG movies and I thought the first one was the best.

  • Usually I feel terrible for the victim, it is a terrible for the character, it is a horrible thing to be raped, but sometimes, not often, I do find it a little sexually arousing. I think it is more that I am a young adult and a virgin so any female nudity is, at least a little, arousing for me.

  • Iv Seen 1-2 But Honestly Im Sad At The Thought As I Know Its Real And That It’s Shit That Does Happen In Real Life

  • Honestly, the only rape related fantasies that are acceptable are fantasies about killing rapists. If you want to be raped, delete yourself from the population. If you want to rape someone, same thing only do it slower so it hurts more.😠

  • In some movies it's absolutely necessary to advance the plot, but in a lot it's not. I find them difficult to watch, but I think that's the point. Rape should make us uncomfortable.

  • I saw as a kid and made me feel bad like I wanted to leave the movie. In general, violence... I don't like. I like to see the victim take out the bad person... which is always a guy.:*(.

This was one of my first introductions as a child to idiots, selfish jerks, molesters, rapists and general a$$holes that need to be disciplined. Billy Jack.

  • I usually fast forward, or skip through them. I don't like seeing women abused, even if it is part of the story line and part of the plot. I just don't need to watch that part.

  • I don't mind. A good French movie called "Irreversible" has a 10-minute rape scene. It's just a movie, not a reality show. Don't take it so seriously.

  • I feel sick. I feel scared. I feel on the verge of a panic attack. No one should be raped. If it's a fantasy and the actions are consensual than that's fine. But actually being raped is something no one should go through

  • Ruins the movie, because I know everyone in it is acting based on some guy's interpretation of the events leading up to rape and the actual rape itself. It somehow seems like a fictional movie suddenly trying to act like a documentary. A guy who never went through it trying to say "this is what actually happens to people." It seems to be at once a disservice to actual victims and, somehow, a disservice to actual rapists. I guess if it's a movie based on real events, okay - it's still cheap shock value, but okay. But putting it in fiction is just weird.

  • Rape scenes in movies are not arousing.

  • It's extremely uncomfortable to watch... it's the plot of the day in lifetime movies... Even if it's telling a story I prefer they leave the scene out and just talk about it, it's more emotional that way. But I will say this, it's a way to show guys what rape means. You can try to explain it but to see it played out is good for them. But I would much rather prefer in an a psa type video made for sex class than in a movie

  • Rape is fucked up big time , but I did like that movie part 1 , I didn't see the other 2 but part 1 for the fact that she got Revenge on them and the way she got Revenge was awesome they deserved everything she did to them , fucking assholes

    • Yeah it's fucd up but it made me Wana have sex

  • Very few rape scenes represent what most victims actually experience and most utterly fail with the aftermath of it. Most just come across as someone's twisted fantasy

  • it arouses me, but on the other hand i also feel sorry for victim... sometimes i have fantasy of this too but Thanks Lord i have no courage to do this...

  • I can't watch rape scenes or any violent scenes for that matter. I always have to look away, so I avoid media that would have them in it.

  • Forcible rape scenes are obscene and repugnant. Only a psychopath would like anything about them. Even a little.

  • It depends. It can be arousing with also concern for the victim or it can be horrifying away that quite literally kills my sex drive for like a day. Depends on the particulars. Sometimes it might be something subtle that pushes it one way or the other.

  • Hate it tbh. Like I'll turn off the movie or TV show
the very second I see a rape scene about to start.
