As for my answer, there is a reason why there are ages of consent. Just like, there is a good reason why teachers can't sleep with students or doctors with patiance. Or cops with the people they arrest or protect.

Just because people are physically capable of reproducing at the age of 12 doesn't mean they are ready to handle the requirements of parenting, relationships and all the drama that comes with it.

There are many 12 and 13 year olds who have succeeded in getting laid with adults byt they have no idea how they have ruined that man's or woman's public image. Adults that have agreed or encouridged this are just as bad.

If a child or underaged teen is an adults only hope for a normal life, relationship or sex, they have already lost and need professional help.

No, definitely not. Until the legal age of reason (which varies based on where you are), a person doesn't have the mental ability to give consent.

It would be ridiculous to say that a 1yo child says "OK" to her 30yo uncle, and that, consequently, them having sex would be okay.

It's important to keep an age limit for consent. IMHO, that should be at least 16, By then, both boys and girls would have gone through puberty and can be reasonably expected to be the caretakers of their own bodies.

The further into the future we progress, the more I feel that it should remain a crime.

In the past, circumstances would force people to mature sooner and maybe even mature enough to make these types of decisions.

Today, I feel that the increase in comforts have slowed down our need to mature and most remain more infantile longer. Hell I've seen 'some' in their 20s that still hold on to that infantilism.

Exception could be make be made for young (19 - 21 year old) adult with an older (possibly 16 - 18 year old) opposite sex person if they are in a committed relationship. Also, sex between two (similar aged) underage people who are in a committed relationship should not automatically be viewed as illegal for one of the parties.
