Thoughts on the “Lolita” influence?

It’s permeated our media. Just look up all the sitcoms with hot moms and funny chubby dads.

But Lolita was different. It is a story about pedophilia. Or whatever the term is for young teens. We see it in hashtags.

It’s more innocent here. But the origins aren’t arguable. Even tho the original book did have some “lessons of decency” after making money on its sexuality.

Stanley Kubrick’s movie actually made it less sexual and more about obvious deranged pedos. It’s worth a watch. Especially if you’re a Peter Sellers fan.

But we seem to be less angered about young women dating older men. And it might be influencing girls growing up. Not the media per se, as that’s never proven. But the culture.

Is it the media? Or is it us?

Just stop worrying and learn to look the other way?

  • Lolita fashion emerged in Japan during the 1990s as a radical form of street style born out of the Japanese taste for Hello Kitty cuteness. Although the term 'Lolita' has sexual connotations in Western culture due to the book of the same name by Vladimir Nabokov, in Japanese culture it refers to cuteness, elegance and modesty. Whether sweet, punk, gothic or any other of the many sub-categories of Lolita that exist, the style is characterised by outfits with a profusion of lacy frills and ruffles worn with demure accessories such as headpieces, gloves and parasols."

    • Lolita was a Russian book…in asia.

    • Russia is not part of the same culture as Japan and to claim otherwise is disingenuous.

  • I don't know why but every teen girl or college girl has a sugar daddy. I don't know if it's because the guys think they should or if the girls think they should. It's gotten really strange in USA American high schools I can tell you that.

    • No one thinks they shouldddd 🤦‍♀️ They think it’s normal and there’s taboo on it and all the stupid stuff. If youngsters got into drugs and alcohol they will get into anything they’re not supposed to. It’s sick. LIKE FXCKING CALM DOWN. You’ll die soon enough don’t rush it. 🤦‍♀️

    • @Rosexøxø well said! Depravity modeled as virtue - the USA American way!

  • You make me miss that show that was on for a while. Where law enforcement would lure pedophiles into rentals under the idea they were meeting their young targets, and arrest them.

    • There are YouTubers who do it. Pedo catchers. But to catch a predator was good. “Have a seat.”

    • That's the name!

    • Private YouTubers? That's risky.

  • i don't see any problem with young people fucking older people. tell me this. when was the first time you had a fantasy of sex? who with and what age?

    • Don’t remember. But tell me this: when is a teen able to make decisions that could influence their entire life?

    • so teens shouldn't be held accountable ever for any decision?

  • I fail to see the need to even care about this.

    • Yeah just pedophilia
