It’s permeated our media. Just look up all the sitcoms with hot moms and funny chubby dads.
But Lolita was different. It is a story about pedophilia. Or whatever the term is for young teens. We see it in hashtags.
It’s more innocent here. But the origins aren’t arguable. Even tho the original book did have some “lessons of decency” after making money on its sexuality.
Stanley Kubrick’s movie actually made it less sexual and more about obvious deranged pedos. It’s worth a watch. Especially if you’re a Peter Sellers fan.
But we seem to be less angered about young women dating older men. And it might be influencing girls growing up. Not the media per se, as that’s never proven. But the culture.
Is it the media? Or is it us?
Just stop worrying and learn to look the other way?
