I've dated women with breasts as small as a 32B & I've dated women with as large as a 40DD.

When I quote measurements as examples of the perfect figure, I go by the rule of thumb that the ideal is a waist that is about 10" slimmer than the hips and bust. Beyond that, I have no idea about bra sizes aside from the sizes that women claim to wear.

^ Yes, this is true, it's the difference in inches between your underbust measurements and your bust measurement. You gave measurements 34'', 23'', 34'' - someone with a 23 inch waist is going to have roughly a 26 inch underbust, 28 at the VERY most unless they have a very exaggerated waspish hourglass shape. So that would be 26 and 34 which is an 8 inch difference, an FF cup (H in US sizing), or at the most, 28 and 34 which would be a 6 inch difference, an E cup (so 28E in UK sizing or 28DDD in US sizing). This is roughly how it would look.

Nope, that's a 2 inch difference so a 32B. How do they arrive at those bra sizes, well, most stores only sell A-DDD cups which are all very small sizes, but because these are the sizes most commonly sold, women think that they MUST fit within this range and that's how the biggest end up in C, D, DD, DDD and the smallest end up in AA, A, B. In reality, AA, A and B cups are very rare and even C cups aren't that common. D, DD, DDD, E, F, FF are all very normal, small to medium sizes yet we perceive them as large because of most stores stopping at DDD. There's lots of other reasons but this would be the main one.

I just found this article on Marilyn Monroe's measurements and bra size. I had only seen the official stats before. I've seen similar stats on other stars. On top of it, my wife has big (not enormous boobs) and says she wears a C cup. No wonder I was confused.

No problem, I'm happy to answer these questions, the time I spend on this website is dedicated to bra sizing education and many people just dismiss what I say and often resort to rudeness, so I appreciate those who are man enough to admit they may have been fooled by societal misconceptions (which isn't anything to be ashamed of because the majority of men AND WOMEN are, and I was for most of my life, too). The girl in the photo looks somewhere around a 26F/FF or 28E/F. And no, she doesn't have big boobs, because these aren't big sizes! You would have guessed C because there's a societal misconception that C = medium/average (not too big, not too small) but this is incorrect.

The +4 method has a lot to do with this. The +4 method is an incorrect measuring method that companies use to squeeze as many people as possible into as narrow a size range as possible and then make as much money as possible. The +4 method tells you to add 4/5 inches to your underbust (depending on whether the number is even or odd) to get your band size, which then results in women wearing a too big band, but also a too small cup, because as you and I know, cup size is calculated by the difference in inches between your underbust and bust measurements, so if you're adding inches to your underbust - you're narrowing that difference. To put it into perspective, 32B is a size that LOADS of women wear, but most of them need a smaller band and larger cup and if the population were correctly fitted, 32B would be quite a rare size. If you reverse the +4 method from 32B, you get 28E (a common size but very hard to buy), this is closer to what these women should be wearing. Similarly, if you reverse the +4 method from 34DD, a very common size for people with large boobs to be incorrectly fitted in, you get 30G, a much more common size but much harder to find. They both have the same under bust and bust measurement. But one has narrower, more conical boobs and the other has round, full, fat boobs. Does that make a difference in cup size?

Women with the same underbust and bust measurements but different shaped boobs can be the same cup size, yes, so for example, say they're both 28FF. But the 28FF bras that woman A finds fit well, probably won't fit woman B very well. Likewise, the 28FF bras that women B finds fit well, probably won't fit woman A well. You could have 10 women who are all 28FF but due to differences in shape, not all 28FF bras will fit them equally well. It's also important to note that as well as a standing bust measurement, a leaning bust measurement should be taken too (and lots of people don't know this) because a lot of us have hidden projection when we lean over and this needs to be taken into account. So in this sense, two people with the same underbust and STANDING bust measurements could need different cup sizes, because if woman A has a 26 inch underbust and 32 standing bust and woman B has a 26 inch underbust and 32 standing bust then that would make them both 26E, but if woman B has a 34 inch LEANING bust then she should actually be wearing something closer to 26FF, not 26E.

I always heard the cliche measurements of 36", 24", 36", and that medium size boobs were C or D cups. Even my wife and one former girlfriend said they wore C cups when, according to you, they would be much larger if they were wearing proper fitting bras. Now the only problem is, if I mention 26FFF in describing medium size boobs, nobody will know what I'm talking about. Right? 🤣 I obviously never measured a woman myself before. Size doesn't matter. It's more important that everything is in proportion to her unique height and build. Shape over size100% of the time for breasts and backside. The hourglass shape is what does it for me. If I have to pick I'd choose a big B or small C cup. Big enough to be round and perky. Tiny ones can be pointy and Giant have gravity and time working against them. Just thinking long term. I'm also anti boon job for similar reasons. Although My ex had soymilk implants that felt real af and held up well after like 18 years. I only knew they were fake cuz she told me. As opposed to traditional silicone which doesn't hold up as well or feel real. Plus if they rupture it can be poisonous unlike the soymilk.
