Why do men seem to believe that we go around saying a guy raped us if we don’t like him?

The vast majority of girls would never accuse a guy of rape just to hurt him.

Being raped is so humiliating it’s not something you want to talk about with anyone. When I was raped I didn’t tell anyone for a year. It hurts to talk about being raped and it’s so humiliating. All you want to do is forget about it and how he felt.

  • False accusations happen. Not as often as rape, but they happen. Guys have to be weary of that too by not sticking their dick in crazy.

Usually when they do happen, it is because the girl has a grudge towards him. Why else would it be?

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you, but there's a big difference between a victim of rape and a false accuser. If the woman is falsely accusing a man of rape, that's because she hasn't been raped. She's not bringing up a traumatic event so she doesn't feel the emotions that a victim would, she's making it all up.

She's also most likely, just like a rapist, a psychopath with no guilty conscience.

  • Same reason that a woman may have 7 kids with 3 different fathers so they can live off of welfare. Some people have no self respect. They just look for an easy way to benefit with no effort. A woman has very little to lose with a false rape accusation, while a man is guaranteed to lose no matter the end result. The idea of a woman raping a man seems like a ridiculous concept, while the idea of a man raping a woman is easy to imagine. Just the word "rape" conjures mental images of a man forcing himself on a woman.

    • lol yeah because that’s what rape is most of the time

Most Helpful Girls

  • The vast majority of girls would never accuse a guy of rape just to hurt him but the vast majority of guys would never rape a girl. Women are not saints and just like men we can be bad people, I know a few girls that did lie about being raped just to get revenge or for attention.

    • I guess guys know that false accusations are easy to make and absolutely devastating to a man's life and though supposedly innocent until proven guilty it's just assumed that the man must be guilty.

  • The problem is, there really are a few women doing things like that. This is really cruel and fucked up. Many women are afraid to talk about rape.. There are also a lot of men, calling all rape victims liars because of those few stupid women (and because they're stupid as well)

What Girls & Guys Said

  • Rape is clearly a crime of violence that should be prosecuted and punished. That said, there are more than enough cases showing up all the time of women who have regrets or grudges who use sexual assault as a weapon that as a man, I feel like that to should be prosecuted, even as a felony if it goes far enough. A guy can never get past it reputationally.

    • Exactly. A woman who lays a false accusation knows that a man is assumed guilty first, and his reputation may remain that way even after her accusation is known to be false. That's why earlier ages had harsh punishments for such women too - because it's as damaging to the guys reputation in society.

    • Sorry... That's just not true... So many get away from their crimes (rapes) almost freely...

    • @BlackCatBone Those exist in greater numbers I agree. But a sensitive man can be incriminated easily by such an accusation. I also think the general reputation of the people involved is important.

  • Because some women have and in a time with the me too movement I don't blame men for being cautious. Nowadays it seems like if you just say hello to the wrong woman you're automatically a creep and trying to assault her.

  • WHAT "GUYS" HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND TO ASK SUCH RIDICULOUS THINGS? I've ACTUALLY NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS. IS THIS A THING? RAPE IS NOTHING TO THROW AROUND. WTF IS GOING ON? WHOSE IN CHARGE?

  • That scenario is unrealistic but think of it from a male perspective, being accused of rape (true accusation or not) a rape accusation is life changing.

We could lose a job, a career, we can give up on ever dating ever again, family could stop talking to us, employers might not hire us, the community would lose trust in us.

A rape accusation is terrifying for men because we know that it effectively ends your entire social life.

Rape is wrong all around and I do feel we should take claims of rape and harassment seriously.

  • I have never believed that, but that’s me

  • Men are cautious because of the me too. movement and that honestly since anyone can be believed and their life could be over.

  • When I was in the military there were women that pointed fingers claiming they were raped. One woman said that if a guy has sex with a woman and then the next day he doesn't want anything to do with her, that is a form of rape.

Another woman said that if she goes drinking with her date and they get drunk and end up at his/her place and have sex - that is rape.

"Rape" is a power word that people abuse. It takes away from women who actually do get raped.

  • A lot a women tell all sorts of lies when they are mad at a guy. What’s funny is they will come back after all that dirt like they are still in love with you and everything is fine… So I wouldn’t put it passed them.

  • I so sorry that you were raped. That's terrible. I was sexually assaulted in public before, not fun at all 😞

  • Because some women have used rape accusations as a form of a weapon. I find it horrid, but the fact is that some women have.

  • Because some girls are vengeful and want to harm a guy's reputation or job unfortunately.

  • because you can

  • 0.1% across the population would still be thousands of false accusations a year

  • I knew a few girls who have accused guys of rape, and it pisses me off that women do that at all. I know that it is rare that it happens but when it does the man's life is ruined and not much happens to the women who made the false report. It also takes away form real victims of rape like myself.

  • Because it has happened before. The estimate lies between 2-10% of all rape accusations that go to court being false. Of course there's no real way to tell because
    1. If it goes as a lack of evidence, it isn't assumed that she lied
    2. Obviously if a dude is convicted they'll say it was true

But there are many cases of men being exonerated of rape AFTER being convicted. Like how can you be convicted of something you didn't do. I've never been falsely accused or rape but I have had a girl threaten to tell people that I groped her when I didn't. So us saying that isn't out of the blue

  • Hmm, being falsely accused a total of three times by a total of 5 women sure seems to make it seem common. And another 2 co workers getting falsely accused of harassment at a different job too. Good thing there were always multiple witnesses and twice there were cameras to disprove them. Still got fired once from a false accusation even though there were 4 witnesses to say it was false too.
Women very much DO make up false BS pretty often out of jealousy, not getting what they want, or other reasons.

  • Sadly some women do it because a lot of people (some of these including women) have become shameless in today's world. And a woman's easiest way of shamming a guy she was involved with is to say rape and incriminate him.

But it's surely a very small number - like about 5% (1 in 20) of those that come out. And I'm sure there are a lot more real rapes that aren't even brought out.

Sadly these women who make false accusations, though a small number, do a HUGE disservice to actual victims.

  • Woman are scamers I never trust them at all.

    • Generalizing much?

  • Many have

  • "The vast majority of girls would never accuse a guy of rape just to hurt him." Agreed, but that doesn't prove anything. That's like trying to use the argument "The vast majority of men would never rape anyone" to try to discourage women from thinking that yes, some men do are in fact rapists. There are fucked up people of both genders, and they're always going to be around. The world is never going to be free from assholes.
