  • It takes some time for the blood to leave that erectile tissue, after being there for whatever period it has been there. I have only had 1 or 2 occasions where my penis did NOT go down after ejaculation occurred. Parasympathetic ("rest and digest") impulses are needed to cause an erection (hence why performance anxiety is detrimental) whereas impulses from the sympathetic nervous system ("fight, flight, F%CK, freeze") are needed for ejaculation. It will take some time before the blood is able to leave the penis such that he'll no longer remain erect.
